Robert Cowen jammed for 126,000 from middle position and Viktor Blom called from the big blind.
Robert Cowen: A♠Q♦
Viktor Blom: Q♣9♣
Blom found his three-outer on the J♣9♥6♣ flop, and had a flush draw just to go along for measure. The 8♦ turn left Cowen drawing to a chop, but the Q♥ river marked his elimination instead.
But the board ran out a safe 10♣7♥7♣3♣2♠ to earn Negreanu a double in his first hand of day — but not of the tournament as Negreanu is already on his ninth tournament bullet.
After the hand, Negreanu complained to table mate Seth Davies that PokerNews makes a fuss about his multiple bullets "while Stephen Chidwick is over there on eight bullets."
"But I'm the bad guy?!" Negreanu yelled before putting on a Russian mob accent. "WELL HERE I AM. I'M THE BAD GUY!"
Nikolai Tulin raised to 25,000 in the cutoff, finding a call from James Rann in the big blind.
Rann and Tulin both checked through the 5♣9♠7♠ flop. Rann tapped the table again after seeing the 5♦ turn, and Tulin fired a bet of 27,000. After taking some time, Rann check-raised to 90,000.
Tulin slid in the call, and Rann used a time bank cards on the 8♠ river. Rann led out for 30,000, earning the pot as Tulin let his hand go.
Hugo Machado opened to 24,000 from the cutoff and called when Frederico Nizzato made it 75,000 from the button.
Machado check-called for 35,000 on the A♥4♥3♥ flop before the 6♠ turn checked through to the A♣ river. Machado led out for 160,000 and was quickly called. Machado tabled A♦10♦ for trip aces, and pipped Nizzato to the pot, who had A♠9♣.
That left Nizzato with around 400,000 and a few hands later, he was eliminated.
While the initial hand betwen Machado and Nizzato played out, a pot of around 800,000 had brewed between Aylar Lie and Justin Liberto. The board read 7♥3♠6♦Q♣3♣, and Lie, whho had around 450,000, checked from the big blind. Liberto fired out 360,000. Lie sent a couple of time banks to the dealer, before finding a call.
Liberto showed a busted draw with A♣5♠, and Lie had queens and sevens with A♠7♠ to take the pot.
Paulo Drummond opened to 25,000 from the hijack, and Michael Soyza moved all in from the small blind for 280,000. Dejan Kaladjurdjevic asked for a count before shoving his larger stack from the big blind, and Drummond quickly got out of the way.
Michael Soyza: 9♣9♦
Dejan Kaladjurdjevic: K♠K♥
Kaladjurdjevic's kings were well in front, and maintained that advantage through the 3♠4♦2♣ flop and 2♥ turn. Soyza then spiked the 9♠ river, cracking kings to stay alive.
