Macchia Hand Goes from Almost Killed to the Nuts

Level 8 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Alex Foxen raised to 8,500 from middle position and was called by Michael Macchia in the hijack. Then, the player in the cutoff mucked their hand, but one card came close to Macchia cards, and there was a debate about what should happen next. The floor came over, they were able to confirm the correct card that should have been mucked, and action continued.

It then folded to Brandon Steven in the big blind who called as well.

The flop came 6910 and all three players checked to the J on the turn. Steven then bet out 23,000, which both Foxen and Macchia called.

After the 4 on the river, it was checked to Macchia who bet out 54,000. Steven gave it some thought before mucking, as did Foxen, to give the pot to Macchia.

As he scooped the pot he said "Thank you for not killing this hand" and showed KQ for the nuts with a straight.

Cooler Flop Denies Legendary 'Isildur' First WSOP Bracelet

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Viktor Blom

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, one of the most legendary online poker players ever, took a shot at his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet on Tuesday in the Bahamas. But he fell short in heads-up play thanks to a flop that didn't go his way on the final hand.

The Swedish high roller, one of 284 entrants in WSOP Paradise Event #7: $10,000 Super PLOSSUS, lost in the end to Tom Vogelsang, who didn't just win his first gold bracelet. He earned just his second career WSOP cash, and first since 2021.

Phil Hellmuth made a bit of a run at his 18th bracelet by reaching Day 2, but inevitably bowed out in 16th place for $26,000. Sean Winter, Bryce Yockey, and Kane Kalas were among the 43 players who earned a piece of the $2,754,800 prize pool but didn't reach the final table.

Kayhan Mokri Steamrolls His Way to $250,000 Triton Invitational Victory

Some tournament victories are hard-fought slogs that last until the small hours of the morning. Kayhan Mokri's victory in the $250,000 Triton Invitational was not one of them.

It was as if the table had tilted and the chips — amassed by some of the world's best poker players — had simply dropped into his lap. By the time he had dispatched Gabriel Andrade in second place, he was still in time for the WSOP Player's Party.

And with $7,725,000 in prize money, there were no questions who the drinks were on tonight...

Punsri Waves the White Flag

Level 7 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Daniel Rezaei opened to 9,000 from early position and called when Punnat Punsri made it 27,000 from the cutoff.

Rezaei check-called bets of 16,000 and 48,000 for the board to read K928Q. Rezaei checked, and after using a time bank Punsri verbally declared his "surrender" and checked behind.

"Good surrender," said Rezaei who tabled 88 for a set of eights.
