Weaver Takes a Few

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Weinman and Ray Weaver together reached a flop of {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and Weaver check-called a bet of 32,000 from Weinman. The turn was the {10-Spades}, and both checked.

The river brought the {J-Diamonds}, and as he contemplated what to do Weaver drummed the felt in front of himself with both hands. The action was interpreted as a check, and Weinman then checked behind, tabling his {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for two pair.

Weaver was a little confused, not realizing his action had been seen as a check and showing that he'd meant to bet on fifth street. But he understood, turning over his {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a straight to collect the small pot.

Moseley Moves Up

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Jonathan Moseley
Jonathan Moseley

Mark Handy opened to 40,000 in early position, Jonathan Moseley moved all in for 340,000 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Handy. He tanked for the better part of a minute, then made the call, committing a third of his stack.

Handy: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Moseley: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Moseley extended his lead when the flop fell {2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, and it was all over when the {6-Clubs} turned. A meaningless {8-Spades} completed the board, and Moseley doubled to 700,000 chips.

Handy slipped to 625,000.

Weinman Knocks Out Raymer

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

Greg Raymer's WSOP Circuit Main Event run here at Harrah's Cherokee has come to an end with a 29th-place finish.

Raymer battled with a short stack for the last couple of hours before a hand arose in which chip leader Daniel Weinman opened with a raise to 24,000. When it folded to Raymer he then shoved for his last 150,000 or so, and Weinman called.

Weinman had {A-}{K-} while Raymer needed improvement with his {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

The flop came {K-}{Q-}{3-} with one diamond, then the {J-Diamonds} fell on the turn to give Raymer flush hopes. But the river was another {J-}, and Raymer was eliminated.

As is his custom, he signed the fossil he'd been using as a card protector today and gave it to Weinman while congratulating him on the hand.

That's more chips for Weinman, who is now over 1.8 million.

Weinman Sets Up Small

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Sean Small opened with a raise from under the gun and picked up three callers including Daniel Weinman playing from the small blind.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and when it checked to Small he continued for 44,000 — a little under half the pot. All but Weinman stepped aside, and while we missed the action thereafter the result was Small being all in with his {A-}{A-} versus Weinman's flopped set with {2-}{2-}, with neither the {8-Hearts} turn nor {7-Clubs} river having helped Small avoid elimination.

Small is out in 30th place while Weinman catapults into the chip lead with more than 1.6 million.

Matthew Emmel (Day 1) - Eliminated
Matthew Emmel (Day 1) - Eliminated

Matthew Emmel was all in with what looked like ace-king against the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} of Daniel Weinman. Weinman's jacks held as the board ran out queen-high, and Emmel was eliminated.

Weinman now sits with 1.1 million chips.

Hankins Doubles Through Kinney

Level 23 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Following a James Kinney button raise, Matthew Hankins reraised all in for 145,000 more from the small blind and when it folded back to Kinney he called.

Hankins had {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Kinney {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and when the board came {K-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}, Hankins had trip aces and the 300,000-plus chip pot while Kinney fell to about 110,000.
