The Box

We wrote earlier about Jason Strasser, Allen Cunningham and Michael Banducci describing their dislike for "The Box," the curtained-off area where the live-streamed final tables are broadcast. Phil Hellmuth is currently playing for his 11th bracelet at that table, and the final table for this $2,500 No-Limit Hold-Em event will be also be held at that sequestered location. Surprisingly, Mike Matusow had an opinion about that, one which he chose to share with the whole room.

"Phil's going for his 11th bracelet and they put him in a box! They're aren't putting me in a box!" Well, with 267 players left in the field "The Mouth" has some work to do before he starts to worry about that.

Arturo Diaz Cracks Aces

When the player on the cutoff raised to 1,125 Arturo Diaz called on the button and Matt Brady from the big blind. The flop came {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, Brady checked, the raiser bet 2,100 and Diaz raised to 6,000. Brady folded and the raiser moved all-in, with Diaz calling immediately with a set of eights. The other player held aces, didn't catch his two-outer, and Diaz boosted his stack to 25,500.

Reinforcements Arrive!

With Paul Wolfe eliminated you might think that the tyranny of Davood Mehrmand would go unchecked at the table. But John Esposito just sat down and right off started telling Mehrmand to, well, shut up.

After Mehrmand started making fun of how a woman at the table played a hand Esposito said, "Don't worry, honey, I'll shut him up. He causes problems everywhere."

Mike Matusow Back at the Wheel and Triples Up

On a board of 10-6-J-10 a player pushed all-in and Mike Matusow asked for a count. The dealer seemed to be having trouble counting up the chips, so Matusow said, "I'll just make it easy on you, I call," and turned over A-J. His opponent turned over {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}. The river was a blank, Matusow took the pot and his opponent headed for the door. Matusow was up to about 47,000 after the hand.
