Freezing in the Tent

For the second straight day, players have been moaning and groaning about the temperature of the Player's Pavilion and I certainly don't blame them -- it's freezing in here!

Layne Fills Up to Survive

"It's hard to keep a good man down," said Layne Flack after surviving a hand that forced him all-in.

The board read {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Layne shoved his last 325 into the pot. He was called by a single opponent, who mucked his hand after Layne flipped over 4-8 for a full house.

Layne won 6,500 chips on the hand.

Amir Vahedi is Table 115's First Victim

Sitting at a very tough table occupied by the likes of Doyle Brunson, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Chad Brown, and Eli Elezra, Amir Vahedi just lost the last of his chips in a hand with recent bracelet winner Elezra and an unknown player at the table.

Eli won the high with a set of Queens and the unknown player had A-2 for the nut low, eliminating Amir from the tournament.

Keiner Prefers the Exotic Events

I just had a chance to speak with Michael Keiner, who won his first gold bracelet this year in the $1,500 buy-in Seven Card Stud event.

Keiner said he prefers the exotic events like Seven Stud, Stud Hi-Lo, Omaha Hi-Lo, and Razz because he feels that the smaller buy-in hold'em events have become more of a crap shoot this year.

Keiner also explained that his bracelet win helped silence some of his critics back in Germany, as he had faced a lot of pressure from the poker community for being one of the first German players to earn sponsorship when the country began its poker boom. He has put up some impressive tournament results over the past 10 years, but none as career defining has his victory at this year's WSOP.

Keiner currently has 7,400 chips and is sitting at table 128 with Gavin Smith and Frankie O'Dell.
