Chris Bell is Out

In keeping with the motif of big pairs running into even bigger pairs, Chris Bell was just eliminated when his pocket queens ran into the pocket aces of Napoleon Ta. Ta now sits with 283,000.

Then Again...

In the previous post Paul Kobel folded pocket kings because he feared running into aces. That's exactly what happened to Jason Manger, as he found himself all in with KK and crushed by his opponent's AA. He was on his way out of the tournament when he spiked a king on the river to double up to 210,000. Sometimes you run kings into aces and find a way to crack 'em.

Paul Kobel Lays it Down

Paul Kobel raised before the flop and Asger Boye moved all in from the small blind. Kobel thought awhile before folding pocket kings face up, explaining that he'd been knocked out of an earlier tournament by running kings into aces and that wasn't going to happen this time. Boye didn't show his cards and Kobel hung on to his last 74,000.

Lee Watkinson Eliminated

Lee Watkinson, sitting on just 14,000 in chips, moved all in from the cutoff and was called by Shawn Buchanan. Watkinson turned over pocket twos while Shawn showed K-J. The board was fantastic for Watkinson, as it came {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} giving Lee a set. However, the board ran {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} to give Shawn a running straight which eliminated Lee from the event.

Mark My Words

One of our field reporters had stopped by Theo Tran's table when Tran pulled him aside and said, "See that guy there?" while pointing to another player at his table. "I'm gonna get all his chips." The player had just shy of 100,000 and the goal would certainly boost Tran into the chip lead.

Sure enough, a few hands later, Tran had eliminated him.

Preflop, Theo Tran made it 5,500 to go and Mike Collins bumped it to 15,000 from the big blind. Theo called and the flop came {Q-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. Collins led out for 14,000 and Theo called. The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and Collins fired 20,000 into the pot. Theo called and when the {7-Spades} fell on the river Collins moved all-in for his remaining 42,600. Theo called and Collins showed {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for sevens and threes with an ace kicker while Theo showed A-3 for a full house. After the hand, Theo is up to 275,000.
