Mark Stubbs moved all in preflop for 23,300 and was called by Liz Lieu. Lieu showed , while Stubbs held . The board came and Lieu's ace-high held up, eliminating Stubbs from today's field.
Preflop, Steven Merrifield made it 5,700 to go and Marco Johnson raised all-in for another 18,300 more. Stuart Baum moved all in as well and Merrifield folded. Baum turned over A-K while Johnson held . The A-K held up for Baum and Johnson was eliminated.
We had Theo Tran listed as busted in the chip counts for a few seconds--that was a misclick. He's still in. When someone on the rail told Theo that he was listed as busted in the count, Liz Lieu said, "That's because he keeps running back and forth between the Ladies Event and his seat's empty."
Preflop, from early position, Theo Tran made it 3,600 to go and was called by Dane Lomas and Pete de Best, both from middle position. Charles Chattha moved all-in for his remaining 35,100. Everyone folded back to Dane Lomas who called and showed pocket jacks while Chattha turned over pocket aces.
Lomas failed to improve and is left with only 6,000 after the hand while Chattha is up to 80,000.
Pedro Rios
He lost a big chunk of his stack in an early hand where his Aces were cracked and Pedro Rios was he wasn't able to recover from that loss. He's just been eliminated.
With the board reading , Anthony Phillips bet 20,500 and Kenna James took some time looking Phillips and the situation over. James finally made the call and Phillips turned over for two pair, and that was good enough to take the pot. That boosted Phillips up over 125,000 and left James with just a bit more than 20,000.
Theo Tran has told us that he's been running incredibly hot in Day 2 of this event. So far Theo has found pocket queens, pocket kings, and even managed to crack aces.
Eli Elezra
So far today has not been a good day to pick up pocket aces. With the board reading Dean Bui checked and Eli Elezra bet 30,000. Bui check-raised to 71,000 and Elezra moved all in, only to find that his had been outflopped by Bui's . The fell on the river and Eli Elezra, who came into play today as the chip leader, has been eliminated.
Pedro Rios made a big raise before the flop that was enough to set Duncan Bell all in. Bell chose to call for the rest of his chips with and found that he was crushed by Rios' . The flop brought Bell no help, nor did the on the turn, but on the river Bell spiked the to brutally crack Rios' aces and double up.
We started the day with 137 players and within the first ten minutes we've already lost seven of them. Play will go hand-for-hand the closer we get to 100 players, which at this rate may be very soon.
