Mike Matusow - 30th Place
Mike Matusow - 30th Place
And this one is gonna hurt for awhile. Paul Snead raised to 200,000 and Mike Matusow reraised to 660,000 from the big blind. Snead called, and they saw an {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {5-Hearts} flop. Both players checked, and when the {9-Hearts} came on the turn Matusow bet 500,000. Snead moved all in, Matusow called, and that's when Mike learned that his {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} had been overtaken by Snead's {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}.

The {K-Clubs} came on the river, and with that Mike Matusow's run in the Main Event came to an end.

Garrett Beckman Eliminated in 31st Place ($193,000)

Garrett Beckman - 31st Place
Garrett Beckman - 31st Place
Garrett Beckman opened the action with a preflop raise to 175,000 from under the gun. The action folded to Dennis Phillips who called in the cutoff. The blinds folded and the two players went heads up to a flop of {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

Both players checked and saw a turn of {9-Clubs}. Beckman fired out a bet of 280,000 before Phillips made it 600,000 to go. Beckman moved all in and Phillips snap-called.

Beckman held {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for overcards with the nut flush draw, but would need to hit as Phillips showed {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the straight.

The river bricked the {4-Hearts} and Beckman becomes our 31st-place finisher, good for a $193,000 payday.

Clint Schafer moved all in for 330,000 from the button and Tim Loecke insta-called.

Schafer: {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}

Loecke: {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}

The flop came down {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}, pairing Loecke's ace.

"Six of diamonds! One time!" cried Schafer's railbirds.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}.

"OK, any six!" implored Schafer.

The river, though was the {3-Spades} and Schafer's Main Event run was over. He'll take home $193,000 for his 32nd-place finish.

After the hand, Loecke was up to 2,550,000.

Action folded to Jamal Kunbuz and he moved all in from middle position for 1,020,000. Ylon Schwartz reraised all in and when action folded around the players showed:

Kunbuz: {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}
Schwartz: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

Kunbuz was quite dominated and needed considerable help to stay alive. The board ran out {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {4-Clubs} {7-Spades} {J-Diamonds} and Kunbuz was our 33rd-place finisher. Ylon Schwartz is now sitting on a stack of about 2.6 million in chips.

Scott Montgomery Takes One Off Owen Crowe

Owen Crowe and Scott Montgomery limped in and saw a flop of {10-Spades} {7-Spades} {6-Clubs}. Crowe checked, Montgomery bet 125,000 from the button, Crowe raised to 300,000 and Montgomery called. The turn was the {K-Clubs}. Crowe bet 500,000 and Montgomery called. The river was the {6-Hearts} and both players checked.

Crowe turned up {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} for tens and sixes, but Montgomery held a bigger two pair with {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} and raked in the pot.

Using the Club

After a flop of {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {4-Spades} Nikolay Losev and Kelly Kim checked and Peter Eastgate bet 400,000. Losev then check-raised to 1.1 million and Kim got out of the way. Eastgate did not get in the way--he moved all in for over 7 million. Losev folded his hand, and is back down to 1.7 million. Eastgate is up to 8.9 million.

David Rheem Flexes Some Muscle

Mike Matusow opened for a raise to 180,000. Brandon Cantu asked for a count on Matusow's chips and he replied, "About 2.7 (million)." Cantu reraised to 600,000 and David "Chino" Rheem moved all in. Matusow folded and Cantu flashed the {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} as he folded too.

Matusow said he folded {A-?} {K-?} as Rheem stacked the pot.

Point/Counterpoint

Darus Suharto raised to 160,000 and Chris Klodnicki reraised to 600,000. Suharto then bumped it a wee bit, to 2.1 million.

That's when Klodnicki open-folded {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Suharto showed his pocket kings and said, "You owe me two now," referring to an earlier time when he showed his hand after Klodnicki folded.

As Suharto scooped the pot, there was a bit of confusion as a single 25,000 chip was sitting in-between Suharto and Dean Hamrick. They weren't sure who it belonged to, so Suharto and Hamrick agreed to Roshambo for it, until floorman Steve Frezer came over and said, "Ah, no, you're not doing that." They went to check the security cameras to find where the chip's true home is.
