Poker > Lakers

Jerry Buss is seated in the tournament field today and doesn't seem overly concerned about the Lakers game going on later tonight. Maybe he's confident they'll take it down. Or maybe he just didn't feel the need to travel all the way down to Orlando for the game. Nevertheless, Buss is decked out in a nice purple shirt and sporty Lakers hat to support his team.

Shuffle Up and Deal!

Although many of the seats are still empty, the room is cluttered with players standing around and talking. The cards are in the air though with the button in the eight seat.

Welcome to Event #21

The first of three H.O.R.S.E. events at the 2009 World Series of Poker kicks off today at 5:00 PM local time. Last year's event drew 32 players more than the previous year despite the increase in the buy in from $2,500 to $3,000, and with the way things have been going thus far at the WSOP, there's a good possibility the field may swell even more this year. Jens Voertmann conquered a field of over 400 entrants last year to claim nearly $300,000 in first-place prize money and his first gold bracelet.

This event serves as the largest H.O.R.S.E. event outside of the $50,000 World Championship that will be taking place later on in the Series. Many of the games top pros will be on hand to give it their shot at the featured game sequence of hold'em, Omaha-8, razz, stud, and stud-8.

We'll see you here shortly for the start of Event #21 as we bring you all te live action from right here at the Rio in Las Vegas. Stay tuned!
