They See Kim Here, They See Kim There - Out in 18th Place ($27,824)

Disaster for Steve Kim. He somehow got a lot of chips in the middle with {A-?} {K-?} -- very reasonable, seeing as he was way ahead of Chad Brown's {K-?} {9-?}. However, a cheeky nine on the river changed all of that, and now Brown is up to 650,000, while Kim dropped right down to 70,000. Oops...

Just a few hands later, Kim found himself involved in an enormous three-way capped pot with Soheil Shamseddin and Kenny Hsiung. He bet the {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {10-Spades} flop and got two callers. He bet all in on the {8-Spades} turn and got two callers. Hsiung bet out on the {A-Clubs} river -- and got no callers as Shamseddin gave it up.

Kim: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Hsiung: {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}

And that's the end of that for Steve Kim, who busts in 18th place.

Soheil So Good

Soheil Shamseddin raised in early position and called a reraise from Chad Brown to see a {Q-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts} flop, which he liked enough to check-call a bet on. Shamseddin check-called Brown's bet on the {3-Clubs} turn as well -- but both players cagily checked the {5-Clubs} on the river. Shamseddin could only boast {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts} for a flush draw that never got there; Brown turned over pocket nines to take pot.

Brown is now up to 490,000, while Shamseddin is down to... 490,000.

Perry In Trouble

Mark Teltscher raised preflop with Ralph Perry defending in the big blind.

The flop of {4-Spades}{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} was checked by both players before the {4-Diamonds} hit the turn. Perry checked and Teltscher fumbled with a bet. Perry called and the {6-Diamonds} fell on the river. Perry checked and Teltscher fired once more with Perry making a crying call.

Teltscher tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} for a full house to take it down. He's up to 235,000 with Perry in trouble with 60,000.

Bottom Pair Is Just Dandy

A hefty old pot went Soheil Shamseddin's way when a smirking Steve Kim couldn't beat his {A-Clubs} {2-Spades} on a {J-?} {K-?} {2-?} {Q-?} {7-?} board with three clubs on it. Shamseddin enquired as to whether Kim had had the {10-Clubs} for a nice draw on the turn, but Kim didn't confirm or deny.

Another Cash for Alaei, Next Another Bracelet

Daniel Alaei raised the cutoff and Ralph Perry defended in the big blind. The flop came down {J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Perry checked, Alaei bet and Perry raised. Alaei made the call.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Perry bet and Alaei raised. Perry made the call.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Perry check-called the bet of Alaei who tabled {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for the best hand. Alaei is up to 250,000 with Perry on the short stack with 75,000.

Jody Garavents His Anger

...And here we are in the money.

Jody Garaventa raised the cutoff and called a reraise from Daniel Alaei on the button.

They saw an {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} flop and Garaventa immediately moved all in, Alaei calling behind.

Alaei: {A-?} {10-?}
Garaventa: very ahead with {A-?} {Q-?}

But oh! The bubble-time cruelty of the poker gods.

Turn: {10-Spades} to give Alaei a full house
River: {K-Hearts}

Ouch. That's a $27,824 outdraw there, and Garaventa has no choice but to head home empty-handed.

Phil Up

Our short stack Phil Tom three-bet all in to a raise from Matt Glantz and they were on their backs.

Nothing for Tom to worry about though -- his {A-?} {Q-?} was plenty in front of Glantz' {K-?} {9-?}, and he stayed ahead all the way down the {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} board to double up to 85,000.

Brummelhuis Basks in the Lights of Broadway

A bubble-time blind on blind confrontation for Michiel Brummelhuis and Soheil Shamseddin.

Brummelhuis raised in the small blind and Shamseddin re-popped; Brummelhuis made it one higher, and Shamseddin called.

Brummelhuis bet and Shamseddin called all the way down the {K-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {Q-Spades} {7-Clubs} {10-Hearts} board -- and Shamseddin mucked when Brummelhuis showed him {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} for the flopped broadway straight.

Brummelhuis, fresh off winning the previous hand against Howard Lederer, wins this one too, and is not in any immediate danger of being our unlucky bubbler -- he's up to 360,000.
