Who's In Trouble?

Phil Tom is our official short stack as we head deep into bubble territory -- he's got just 45,000 to his name. There are a few other players with not much more, though. Watch this space...

Play Resumes

The 19 players are back and hand-for-hand play has commenced as we are currently on the money bubble. Next elimination will go home with nothing but a story to tell as the remaining 18 players will have $27,824 reasons to celebrate.

Kenny Or Can't He?

The battle of the "Kennys" has seen Kenny Hsiung and Kenny Shei clash in an interesting hand that left Shei scratching his head.

Shei opened with a raise from the button before Hsiung reraised from the small blind. Shei then four-bet and Hsiung called.

On the flop of {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts} Hsiung checked, Shei bet and Hsiung thought for a long time before deciding to commit with a raise to put Shei all in. Shei quickly called with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} as Hsiung would need a lot of help with his {A-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The turn bricked the {10-Clubs} but the ace from space on the river in the form of the {A-Diamonds} gave Hsiung the hand and sent Shei crashing to the rail.

Desperate Meets Desperater

Battle of the short stack blinds, as Greg Mueller raised his small blind and Jody Garaventa called in the big.

Mueller bet out on the {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {6-Diamonds} flop and then called the raise from Garaventa; he also bet out on the {6-Clubs} turn (a call from Garaventa) and on the {5-Diamonds} river (another call).

Garaventa turned over {Q-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and what Mueller was getting so aggressive with will forever be shrouded in mystery, as he mucked, leaving himself with just 60,000. Garaventa meanwhile is only slightly better off on 85,000.

Double FBT

Maria Ho raised before Greg "FBT" Mueller made it three bets to go. Daniel Alaei then made it four bets and Ho stepped aside as Mueller made the call.

They saw a flop of {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Alaei led with a bet before Mueller raised. Alaei re-raised and Mueller called for his last chips.

Alaei has {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} but Mueller showed {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for flopped top set. The turn was the {7-Spades} and river the {a-Diamonds} giving Mueller the double up to 143,000 chips.

Tom In Trouble

Matt Glantz raised the button and Phil Tom made the call in the big blind.

They took a heads-up flop of {9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Tom decided to lead at the pot with a bet before Glantz announced a raise. Tom called and the {4-Clubs} peeled off on the turn. Tom checked, Glantz bet and Tom called.

The river landed the {7-Diamonds} and Tom again led out with a bet with Glantz making the call with {9-Spades}{5-Clubs} for two pair. It was good as Tom mucked. Tom is down to 50,000 and in danger of missing the money as Glantz steadies himself with 300,000 chips.

Veld at the final hurdle
Veld at the final hurdle
Ralph Perry raised and Soheil Shamseddin reraised; hanging on by the skin of his Dutch teeth for some time now, Lex Veldhuis called all in for 19,000 from the big blind. Oh dear.

Shamseddin check-called every street of the {J-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {J-Spades} board until the river, when he check-folded instead.

Perry turned over pocket sixes to rake in the pot and put him up to 208,000. Veldhuis showed {10-?} {8-?} that had entirely failed to hit anything, and to a quick round of applause form the rest of the table, Veldhuis headed for the rail.

Brummelhuis The Betting Machine

Ralph Perry was the preflop aggressor, raising it up from the button with Michiel Brummelhuis defending his big blind.

They took a flop of {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Brummelhuis checked to Perry who fired a bet. Brummelhuis put in the check-raise but Perry wasn't fazed as he raised once again. Brummelhuis made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Spades} and now Brummelhuis led at the pot with a bet with Perry making the call.

The river was the {10-Clubs} and again Brummelhuis bet with Perry calling.

Brummelhuis revealed {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} which was good to take it down as he jumps to 400,000 chips. Perry drops to 130,000.
