Signs of Re-Jen-Eration

Harman - up
Harman - up
Jennifer Harman is not giving up.

Daniel Alaei raised and she reraised; a call and they saw a {Q-Clubs} {K-Spades} {2-Diamonds} flop -- but not before Alaei had checked in the dark. Nevertheless he called Harman's bet.

Harman bet again on the {2-Clubs} turn though, and this Alaei decided he couldn't make the call. Alaei drops a little to 265,000, and Harman shifts up to 175,000.

Jody Garavents

Action's not really slowing down any yet as the bubble approaches.

Jody Garaventa raised form the the cutoff and Maria Ho re-popped him from the small blind. He called, and then called Ms. Ho's bet on the {K-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Spades} flop too. Ho then eased off, merely check-calling bets from Garaventa on the {5-Spades} turn and {3-Clubs} river until they reached a showdown.

Ho flipped {Q-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} for two pair -- and it must have been good as Garaventa mucked his hand.

Current standings:

Ho: 240,000
Garaventa: 95,000

A Battle of the Big Names in Poker

We've just witnessed another massive pot with the action capped preflop three ways between a blogger's nightmare combination of Soheil Shamseddin, Matt Hawrilenko and Michiel Brummelhuis.

The flop was {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Brummelhuis fired a bet with both opponents making a call.

The same action went down on the {K-Hearts} turn with Brummelhuis leading the betting and both opponents making the call.

The {9-Diamonds} landed on the river and Brummelhuis slowed down and checked to Shamseddin who took the lead with a bet. Hawrilenko made a reluctant fold with Brummelhuis making the call.

Brummelhuis showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} but he'd been outflopped by the {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} of Shamseddin who took down the monstrous pot. He's now up with the leaders on around 475,000.

Uber Mega Ultra Pot

Well, in so far as limit hold'em can produce such things. Biggest pot of the tournament so far, anyway.

Chad Brown raised in early position and Soheil Shamseddin called on the button. Over to Matt Hawrilenko in the big blind who re-popped, two calls, and a flop.

Flop: {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}

Hawrilenko bet out and was met with a reraise from Brown. Shamseddin called -- and then Hawrilenko three-bet. Two calls, and a turn.

Turn: {5-Spades}

Hawrilenko bet out again, but his opponents backed off a little -- they just called this time.

River: {6-Spades}

Once more Hawrilenko bet out and Brown now passed; Shamseddin called though, and mucked when Hawrilenko turned over pocket {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}.

Hawrilenko: up to 585,000.

It's All Over For Stevie Z

Steve Zolotow
Steve Zolotow
Steve Zolotow is another player who is more than happy to nurse a short stack as we've witnessed for the past few levels, however he's just met his demise within sight of a cash result.

Zolotow's last chips were in the middle preflop with {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} against the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} of Kenny Shei and although Zolotow took the lead briefly on the {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{J-Spades} flop, it was all over when the {10-Clubs} hit the turn to give Shei an unbeatable flush.

The river was the {7-Spades} and Zolotow's evening comes to an end with Shei up to 195,000.

That's a Rapp

A Rapp on the knuckles for Stefan, er, Rapp -- his pocket kings were no good when Phil Tom flopped a set of fives, and while Tom is up to 145,000, the unfortunate Rapp hits the rail.

Bonyadi Elimination

Joe McGowan raised from early position with Phil Tom calling on the button and Farzad Bonyadi coming along in the big blind.

They saw a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Bonyadi led out with a bet before McGowan raised. Tom folded and Bonyadi moved all in with McGowan making the call.

Bonyadi: {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}
McGowan: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Bonyadi showed top pair with a gutshot but trailed the overpair of McGowan.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and the river the {A-Spades} to eliminate Bonyadi from the tournament.
