Staudenmaier Stands His Ground

With a flop of {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} spread in the middle of the table, Pat Bueno put out a bet of 3,100. His opponent for this hand was Luke Staudenmaier, and he made the call.

Fourth street was the {4-Spades}, and the river was the {A-Spades}. Bueno bet 6,300 on the turn and 12,200 on the river with Staudenmaier calling both times. In the end, Bueno's {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} was second-best to his opponent's {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}.

Bueno - 28,000
Staudenmaier - 120,000

Pham Felts Mosseri

Abe Mosseri opened the pot for a raise from middle position and two player called from behind. David Pham reraised pot from the small blind. Mosseri flat called the raise and the other two players got out of the way.

Before the flop was dealt, Pham eyed up Mosseri's stack. Seeing that he had 15,000 left, Pham bet a stack of orange chips in the dark.

The flop came {9-Spades} {6-Spades} {3-Clubs} . Mosseri said "I have to call you" and tossed in his remaining chips.

David Pham: {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}
Abe Mosseri: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}

The board filled out {9-Spades} {6-Spades} {3-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} giving Pham the pot and eliminating Mosseri from the tournament.

Pham - 160,000

Lederer Flunks Out

Howard Lederer - Out
Howard Lederer - Out
The cutoff opened the pot to 3,500, and Howard Lederer reraised to 10,600. The small blind then four-bet it, making it 25,600 to play. That was enough to fold the cutoff, but Lederer would tank and call.

The flop brought {2-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. The small blind bet enough to cover Lederer, and the Professor called all in for his last ~12,000, tabling {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs}. The news was bad though as his opponent showed up {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}. The turn {5-Diamonds} and river {K-Hearts} would be useless to Lederer, and he has been eliminated.

Chip Leader Darryll Fish Takes a Hit

From the cutoff J.C. Alvarado raised to 2,400. Darryll Fish called from the button as did the player in the big blind.

The flop came {K-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} and all three players checked. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and action was checked to Alvarado who bet 4,800. The big blind folded and Fish called.

The river brought the {9-Spades} and Darryll Fish checked for a third time in the hand. Alvarado bet 11,800 and Fish made the call.

Fish said "queens", but Alvarado rolled over {K-Spades} {10-Diamonds} for a pair of kings to take the pot.

Alvarado - 110,000
Fish - 221,000

Paired Up

As we continue to break tables, a few interesting table pairings are cropping up.

First of all, Table 7 saw Theo Tran, Nam Le, Vanessa Rousso, and Bertrand Grospellier all seated in a row. Tran has since busted, but his seat was just filled by Eric Cajelais.

At the adjacent Table 13, we see that the happy couple of Ivan Demidov and Liya Gerasimova have been broken onto the same table in the past few minutes. They are almost directly across from each other, but Demidov does have one seat's worth of positional advantage on her.
