The Century Mark

The last table in the far corner has just been broken, and eleven tables remain in play. That means that we have cracked the 100-player mark with one more level left in Day 1. One hundred seventy-six players have already taken the walk of shame.

Lennaard Leapfrogging

After a series of pots and re-pots before the flop, Ken Lennaard got his opponent all in for about 80,000. Lennaard held {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} against his opponent's {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}.

The board ran out blanks, coming {9-Spades} {3-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Spades} {10-Clubs}. Lennaard's queens hold up to win the race, knocking off another player and chipping him all the way up to 175,000.

Tommy Chen raised to 3,200 from early position and a player in middle position made the call. Barny Boatman reraised to 11,100 from the small blind. Carlos Mortensen then reraised pot from the big blind. Action folded around to Boatman who made the call for his last 8,000.

Boatman: {A-Clubs} {9-Spades}
Mortensen: {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

The board came {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} eliminating Boatman from the tournament.

Gary Benson Eliminated

After a flop of {9-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} Gary Benson was all in agasint Eugene Todd

Benson: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Todd: {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}

The turn was a brick and the river brought the {A-Hearts} giving Todd a pair of aces and the hand.

Eugene Todd - 85,000
Gary Benson - eliminated

More For Mortensen

In a heads-up pot, a flop of {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds} drew a check from Mohsin Charania, and Carlos Mortensen made a bet of 6,000. Charania opted to check-raise to 17,000, and Mortensen moved all in for a total of 24,200. Charania called the extra few chips.

Showdown
Charania: {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}
Mortensen: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

The {5-Hearts} on the turn made Mortensen the straight, but it actually helped Charania more, giving him four outs instead of two. The blank {9-Spades} filled out the board though, and Mortensen gets his double up.

Charania - 30,500
Mortensen - 58,500

Grinded Out

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi - Out
Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi - Out
A player in early position opened with a raise to 4,000. Michiel Brummelhuis made the call, and Michael Mizrachi potted it to 18,400. The original raiser called, and Brummelhuis instantly re-potted it to cover both players. Mizrachi called all in for just a couple thousand more. The original raiser finally ducked out and let the other two duke it out.

Mizrachi tabled {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, racing for his tournament life against Brummelhuis' {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts}.

An ace on the flop was no fun for the grinder, and he failed to improve on a board of {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {5-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}. He's out with just about 100 players left.

Brummelhuis, on the other hand, has vaulted up to 182,000 in chips, good enough to put him near the top of the board.

On a board of {Q-Spades} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and with over 60,000 in the pot, Luke Staudenmaier bet 34,500. His opponent tanked for a full minute before making the call. Staudenmaier flipped over {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} to which his opponent said "They're good".

On the next hand Patrick Bueno opened the pot for a 5,200 raise from under the gun. A player behind reraised to 16,000 and Staudenmaier reraised pot. Bueno called all in and the other player got out of the way.

Bueno: {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}
Staudenmaier: {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}

The board came {9-Spades} {8-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} giving Staudenmaier the pot and eliminating Bueno.

After the two hands, Luke "IWEARGOGGLES" Staudenmaier is now up to 200,000.
