Lazar's Opponent Gets There

Scott Lazar raised to 800 and was called by a single opponent. The flop came down {K-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Spades} and Lazar checked. His opponent fired out 1,200. Lazar made the call.

The turn brought the {Q-Hearts} and Lazar took the lead this time. he bet out 3,500. His opponent made the call.

The river was the {6-Spades}, completing some flush and straight draws. Lazar checked and his opponent bet 5,500. Lazar snapped him off by saying, "I call." His opponent tabled {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for a six-high straight. Lazar held two black queens in front of his face, staring at them, looking like he was upset with them. William Rockwell Eliminated

William Rockwell, the poker player who plays poker with his feet because of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident years ago, is out of the Main Event. He was all in with {K-Spades} {8-Spades} on a board of {3-Spades} {4-Hearts} {A-Spades} {2-Hearts} and called by a player who turned over {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. The river paired treys, {3-Diamonds}, to make a full house for Rockwell's opponent.

A disgusted Rockwell slammed his foot onto the table then got out of his chair and made his way for the exit.

Hachem Joking Around

Maria Mayrinck joined Joe Hachem's table during the last level. We overheard them joking about a recent hand.

"Slow-rolling me with ace-king, eh?" Hachem asked. Mayrinck laughed and told Hachem to zip it.

"I'll take that one to the grave," Hachem continued, tongue-in-cheek. "It's mean-spirited. Norman Chad's gonna have a field day with that one."

Another player at the table then told a story about getting a penalty during a preliminary event for excessive celebration.

"There should be a penalty for slow-rolling," Hachem said to more laughter from Mayrinck. "There's a penalty for excessive celebration, so why not for slow-rolling?"

"I have the utmost respect, Joe," replied Mayrinck, also tongue-in-cheek, "but I don't think you understand the term 'slow-rolling'. I'll explain it on break."

Adam Junglen
Adam Junglen
We caught back-to-back hands with Adam Junglen.

In the first, Junglen was in the big blind when he check-called a 1,500 bet on a flop of {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Both players then checked the {3-Clubs} on the turn, and Junglen took the pot on the river after he check-raised to 7,200 after his opponent led out for 2,200 when the {2-Hearts} hit the board.

In the next hand, Junglen check-called out of the small blind after his opponent bet 1,625 on a flop of {10-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Junglen check-called another 3,325 when his opponent bet the {8-Hearts} on the turn.

The river brought the {6-Spades} and Junglen took the lead, betting 2,350. His opponent called and showed {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}, beating Junglen's {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

When both hands were done, Junglen's stack stood at about 38,000.

Just a few hands after taking down a huge pot with a set of kings, Clayton Newman called a check-raise of 20,000 on a board of {10-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} from Tsai Chen.

The river brought the {10-Spades} and Chen bet 6,000 into a pot of over 45,000. Newman called her down.

Chen showed {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} for the ace high flush and Newman mucked his cards.
