Gross Flop For Norris

Josh Norris has been sent to the rail in rather unfortunate fashion after getting his last chips in with the best hand. In fact, Norris' {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} were looking good for the double up against Mike Gross' {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} preflop, however the board fell {8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} to spike a set for Gross and disaster for Norris.

He's eliminated as Gross is up to 235,000.

Tolbert Takes Out Lauzon

John Tolbert raised under the gun to 30,000, and Conrad Monica called one seat to his left. Jean-Francois Lauzon called as well for his last 13,000. Tolbert and Monica checked down a {J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} board. Tolbert turned over {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for three pair, Monica's unimproved {a-}{k-} was no good, and Lauzon's {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} was even less helpful. Lauzon made his exit while Tolbert scooped the pot, moving up to 440,000. Monica has 230,00 left in his stack.

Mackoff Perkins

Robert Perkins is the latest player to hit the rail after committing his chip preflop with {A-Spades}{K-Spades}, however Jonas Mackoff woke up with {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

The board fell {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and without an ace to save himself, Perkins was eliminated from the tournament. Meanwhile Mackoff is now up to 390,000 chips.

Coats Hung Out to Dry

Adam Coats made his move under the gun, risking his last 87,000. The next player to act, Scott Pfeffer, flatted. Then Dennis Murphy reshoved from middle position, covering both players. Pfeffer opted to fold, and Coats' {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} didn't look so hot up against Murphy's {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. The cards fell {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}, sending Coats home. Murphy is now approaching chip-leader Greg Pohler with 725,000.

When Chip Leaders Collide

Our two tournament chip leaders have swapped positions after Jaymes Rosenthal and Greg Pohler played out a recent pot.

Catching the action on the turn on a board of {4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}, Rosenthal fired out 26,000 with Pohler making the call before the {9-Hearts} hit the river. Rosenthal released another 81,000 with Pohler tossing out calling chips.

Rosenthal showed {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} but was outkicked by the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} of Pohler.

Pohler is up to 810,000 with Rosenthal back to 595,000.

Wells Gets Decked

Action folded to Brian Kennish in the small blind, and he moved all in. Big blind David Wells (no, not Boomer), called all in from the big blind. Kennish's {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} was dominated by Wells' {a-Spades}{j-Spades}, but when has that ever mattered in poker? The board fell {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, giving Kennish the runner-runner nut flush to knock out Wells. Kennish built up to 275,000 with the hand.
