Change of Plan

After some discussions during the dinner break, it has been decided that if it looks like they can play down to a winner by 3am, that's what they'll do. If it looks like it'll go a lot later than that, they'll quit and play the final table tomorrow, as scheduled.

The plan is to reassess once the field has been reduced to nine. We'll keep you updated.

Aces for Dudley

It folded around to Gabe Costner on the button, who raised to the tune of 50,000. To his immediate left, Dash Dudley made it an esoteric 131,000 from the small blind. Costner called and they saw a flop.

Flop: {10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

Dudley bet out 155,000 and Costner asked for a count on Dudley's remaining stack before declaring all in. Dudley declared call.

Costner: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Dudley: very much in the lead with {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Turn: {4-Diamonds} giving Costner some straight outs

River: none, of those outs, but instead the {10-Clubs}

"Thought it was ace-king," said Costner as he paid up. "Nice hand."

Costner is at 500,000 after that, while Dudley is at 1,345,000.

Ashira Lavine Survives

As the title claims, Ashira Lavine has just doubled through, making her move with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and being looked up by Samuel Paolini's {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Neither player were sure of what to make of the {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, Lavine adding more outs to her chances of success, but seeing some taken away at the same time. She would have liked the turn though, a {Q-Clubs} pairing her lady and making for a very tense river, which ultimately came the {10-Clubs} to give her both a Broadway straight, and the pot.

Slowdown

Now that our runners are just 18 in number, the action seems to have slowed down some.

It's not just that this is where the money starts to get really big. At this stage all our remaining players will have their eyes firmly set on a precious WSOP final table appearance tomorrow, and ultimately, a shot at the bracelet.

Players at the non-feature table keep glancing over to see whether anyone's busted across the way yet, and so far they have been disappointed. At the feature table players are standing up and pacing at random intervals - the atmosphere eight inches off the ground there makes it feel as though the final is already upon us.

It looks like we might have to wait a little while for any serious action.
