Outer Table Chip Counts

"Slow going," says the field reporter, suggesting a lack of action on the outside table. But, of course, there's big money at stake, and with 15 remaining, the following players are still in with a shout of getting their paws on bracelet gold:

Eric Baldwin -- 660,000
Nicholas Mitchell -- 575,000
Cory Brown -- 1,450,000
Deepak Bhatti -- 450,000
Richard Rice -- 820,00
Gabe Costner -- 1,300,000
Dash Dudley -- 1,600,000

Aadam Daya remains the current chip leader with 1,800,000.

Bart Davis
Bart Davis

Bart Davis was back in the thick of the action once again, pushing over the top of Aadam Daya's button raise from the button. Daya reluctantly made the call with {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Davis tabled a superior {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, and a {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} board later the double up was his. A minor chink in the Daya armor, whilst Davis jumps up to 750,000.

Jeremiah Degreef Eliminated in 16th Place ($24,675)

Dash Dudley - 16th place
Dash Dudley - 16th place

It folded around to Dash Dudley in the small blind, and he ominously asked the short-stacked Jeremiah Degreef how much he had left. "About 320,000," was Degreef's reply.

"I'm all in," said Dudley.

Degreef looked at his cards.

"I call."

They flipped their hands.

Dudley: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Degreef: in the lead with {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Board: an unequivocal {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Degreef's ladies were undone, and he busted out in 16th place. Dudley moved back into the upper echelons of the chip counts, on 1.3 million.

Davis Grinds

It's won one, lost one for a short stacked Bart Davis as he continues to grind like Tony Hawks on Red Bull. Having relinquished his hand to a three-bet all in (Davis opened for 75,000, only for Isaac Settle to come over the top), Davis himself moved all in the very next hand, open-shoving circa 325,000 from early position. His foes folded, and Davis took the pot, but he's still short with around 15 big blinds.

Adaam Daya
Adaam Daya

Just as I was about to publish a post highlighting the gargantuan 1.5-2 million stack of Samuel Paolini, he suddenly finds his stack demolished after tangling with his replacement chip leader, Aadam Daya, in what was the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

It was Paolini who kick-started the action, making a standard preflop raise to around the 75,000 mark from middle position. Daya made the call in the cut-off leading to a {9-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Spades} flop where both players checked.

On the {6-Diamonds} turn, Paolini led for 110,000, only for Daya to bump it up to 375,000. After a brief dwell, Paolini made the call.

The river was a {9-Spades} - "Not exactly a blank," observed Neil Channing sarcastically from the rail - and Paolini opted to check. Daya, however, was less hospitable, sliding precisely 500,000 across the felt, which pretty much accounted for his remaining stack. Paolini sighed and sat back his chair before eventually making the call. "Nice hand," he commended dejectedly as Daya revealed {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} for the turned set and rivered boat.

I once spotted Daya playing £10/20 in the Vic, so he's obviously played a few 'big' pots in his time, but even he knew the importance of this one, blowing out his cheeks with relief as the adrenalin continued to pump through his body. He now has 2,200,000 and smile that would take a crowbar and tub of Vaseline to remove.

Baldwin's Back

Dash Dudley opened for 60,000 and then called the push from Eric Baldwin in the big blind.

On their backs, gentlemen.

Dudley: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Baldwin: {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

Board: {7-Spades}{2-Clubs} ding! {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Baldwin enjoyed a fortunate double up to around 600,000, a little below average but by no means a short stack. Dudley took a hit and dropped below the million mark - he's sitting on around 900,000 now.

Basebaldy Battered

Roughly 140,000 chips had found their way into the pot before the {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, and when we caught up with the action, Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin (small blind) was betting out 91,000 and getting a call from Nicholas Mitchell (big blind).

Baldwin bet out another 122,000 on the {3-Spades} turn and again Mitchell called. The action rather slowed down on the {j-Diamonds} river, though. Both players checked, and Mitchell revealed {A-Spades}{4-Spades}. Baldwin couldn't beat two pair, and dropped into the danger zone on 230,000. Mitchell meanwhile is back up there with the big boys on 1,300,000.

Rice Sr. Shows One Time

Irving Rice, rather quiet since we got back from dinner, raised to 130,000. Everyone gave him the respect due the infrequent raiser and he was left to pick up the blinds and antes.

"Show! One time!" said tablemate Sam Paolini. Rice obliged, flipping pocket jacks.
