Elite Elezra

Eli Elezra

Eli Elezra started a hand out recently by making it 300 from early position. A player in the cut-off called, and the small blind completed as well.

A {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop brought a bet of 500 from Elezra, a call was made by the cut-off and the small blind folded. The {10-Clubs} on the turn came with a 1,500 bet from Elezra, and a call from the cut-off.

Before the river ever came out Elezra threw out a bet of 2,000; a bet that would put his short stacked opponent all in. The {8-Hearts} fell on the river, and the cut-off made the call. Elezra tabled {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} for a pair of aces which was seemingly best as his opponent mucked his cards.

This is the first year the high stakes pro has played the senior's event, and if things continue like they are we're sure this will become an annual thing.

Chad Brown Eliminated

Chad Brown
Chad Brown

This is the second year Chad Brown has been eligible for the $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship. It seems as though Brown has waited 51 years for this moment, and unfortunately he will have to wait another year to take home the crown. Brown has recently been eliminated. We don't know exactly what happened, but when we came across his seat he was long gone.

Lots of Callers

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

We spoke earlier about how there is a lack of headphones creating a more talkative atmosphere. Another huge thing amiss here in the tournament is the lack of cell phones.

The only time people seem to be using their phones is to make calls (a long lost forgotten tool of the cell phone). People aren't updating their twitter, no angry birding, no texting. When a player isn't in a hand they sit, talk, and wait for the next hand to be dealt.

Now granted there are people who are on their phones non stop, but it is remarkable noticeable the amount of people who are not.

This tournament has a different feel than its predecessors. There are bad beats, groans, cheers, and good byes like any other tournament, but in this field it seems like everyone is involved with all the emotions of the table.

Giddy Up

Level 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

Not only is this the biggest field at this years World Series of Poker thus far, we are also pretty sure this tournament has the most cowboy hats of any tournament this year. As far as the eye can see there are tables filled to the brim with players, and a large percentage of those players are wearing cowboy hats.

Men and women alike are sporting the look, with the intentions of wrangling in some chips.

Chatter

Level 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

After just walking around the enormous tournament area one thing that couldn't be missed is the lack of head phones. Very few people have head phones in. Lots of people are actually talking and trading stories at the tables. Instead of the constant rattling of chips you hear hundreds of people talking (and the shuffling of chips). Who knows if this added sense will be any help to anyone, but I am sure it can't hurt.

Out of the 4,032 people playing right now only one player was noticed using an Ipad.

Take away the lack of technology and this is looks like any other tournament on the circuit. The players are here to play poker and just because they might have a little more grey in their hair does not mean they're not some of the best in the world.

Ty Stewart has just taken the podium to announce that with 3,907 players (a number that is steadily growing) this is the biggest tournament of the World Series of Poker thus far and the biggest single day tournament ever.

Play is going to be delayed a few minutes due to the huge influx of players, but we are expect to start shortly.
