Jones Knows

With the bubble just about to burst play has slowed down to a grinding halt. However we just caught a hand where Ronald Lee made it 5,000 from under the gun, and was raised by Aaron Jones who made it 12,500. Lee made the call and both players got to see the flop.

The {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop brought a check from Lee and a bet of 14,500 from Jones. Lee made the call and was awarded the {6-Spades} on the turn. Again Lee check-called a bet from Jones, this time 27,500.

A river {3-Clubs} brought yet another check-call from Lee who had to put in 45,000 this time. After the call was made Jones flipped over {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a full house sixes over threes. Lee mucked as Jones took down the pot.

Defending the Blinds

After the action folded around to Athanasios Polychronopoulos in the small blind he opted to move all in for about 30,000. The big blind, Toby Lewis, made the call and cards were tabled.

Polychronopoulos: {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Lewis: {A-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

After the dealer spread out a {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Spades} Lewis was awarded the pot and Polychronopoulos was eliminated.

Deluca Avoids the Bubble

We walked over to Table 428 to find Matthew Deluca all in for his tournament life with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} against Marvin Rettenmaier's {8-Spades}{8-Spades}. Deluca couldn't bring himself to watch the flop and walked away from the table. With Deluca standing near the tournament clock, the dealer gave Rettenmaier an early lead with a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, but Deluca had plenty of outs to stay alive. The {3-Hearts} on the turn was a huge blank, but the {J-Hearts} on the river gave Deluca a winning straight and a pot worth nearly 140,000.

"You got there," Will Failla said as Deluca walked back to the table. "You needed it, but you got there."

Deluca let out a sigh of relief as he began stacking his new found chips.

Cheong Takes the Challenge

Joseph Cheong started a recent hand out by making it 5,000 from the hijack. Ryan Leng in the small blind raised it to 14,000, and Hans Winzeler in the big blind called all in for 4,900. Action was back on Cheong who called as well.

A {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop came down and both Leng and Cheong checked. The {10-Diamonds} turn brought a 12,000 bet from Leng, but Cheong raised it to 30,000. Leng flashed the {A-Spades} as he folded. Cheong won the side pot between the two players, but there was still the matter of Winzeler at hand.

Cheong: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Winzeler: {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Cheong held top two pair, while Winzeler had a diamond flush draw. A river {8-Clubs} came up short for Winzeler and Cheong was awarded the pot.

Who is Our Chip Leader?

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Chip leader Ryan Leng
Chip leader Ryan Leng

Ryan Leng isn't one of the bigger names left in the field, so we asked our chip leader a little about himself during the break.

Leng is originally from Henderson, Nevada, but he moved to Costa Rica after Black Friday to resume his online poker career as "SooDamnLucky" on PokerStars. He since moved to Canada, spending time in Windsor and Vancouver Island, before making his way back to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker.

Leng says he plans on playing 15 events this summer, including 2-7 lowball (his favorite game), the 10-game mixed event and, of course, the Main Event. He had two cashes at least year's series, both of which came in no-limit hold'em events.

Leng and Fabrizio Baldassari have raced out to a huge lead going into level 15. We'll be keeping an eye on the big stacks throughout the day.
