Shorr Doubles a Short Stack

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

A short stacked player moved all in from middle position. Shannon Shorr took only mili-seconds to call with {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. His opponent held {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}. The flop came {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The turn came {3-Diamonds}. But the river came the {9-Hearts} and Shorr's opponent slammed the table in his excited about hitting his pair. Shorr took it in stride and he now sits with about 18,000.

Phahurat on Right Side of Cooler

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

AP Phahurat raised it to 600 from under the gun, and the next player to act moved all in for his last 2,500. After a couple folds, another player, who had Phahurat covered, moved all in as well. It got back around to Phahurat, and he quickly called off his last 6,450.

Phahurat: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent 1: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Opponent 2: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Phahurat was well out in front, and he grabbed a stranglehold on the hand when the flop came {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Phahuray could only lose to runner runner now, and the {3-Diamonds} on the turn ended it. The river was the {2-Clubs}, and Phahurat collected the full double up and then some.

Players Reading More Than Their Cards

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

A lot of people today are reading books. Whether it is on their iPad, Kindle, or an actual book, quite a few people find reading a good story is more interesting than playing poker at their own table!

I am sure as we get deeper in the tournament more books will close as money comes near and players will realize that the money they can win in the tournament is a more important focus than the fictional stories they are pursuing now.

Vu Gone

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

Tommy Vu had a decision on a board of {2-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. His opponent bet 1,600 and Vu only had 2,500 total. He also had to worry about Erick Lindgren behind him. Vu decided to put in his 2,500. Lindgren folded and his opponent called. Vu had {a-Spades}{8-Spades} and had to dodge the flush draw of his opponent with the {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

His opponent got his flush on the turn with the {5-Hearts} and the meaningless {9-Spades} sent Vu packing.

Aces Give Rasmussen a Double

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

We only walked up to the table as the river action was happening, but here is what we saw. Thayer Rasmussen was heads up with another player on a completed {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board. Rasmussen's opponent had fired out 1,700, and the online pro moved all in for his last 7,075. His opponent spent about two minutes in the tank before dropping the call into the middle, and he mucked his hand when Rasmussen rolled over {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for aces up.

After winning that hand, Rasmussen is up to 18,000.
