Level 4

Justin Smith

2-7 Triple Draw

Scott Clements raised from the button, then Justin Smith three-bet from the small blind and when it got back to Clements he called.

On the first round, Smith drew one and Clements three. Afterwards, Smith stood pat on each of the next two draws while Clements took two cards, then one. Smith bet out after each draw, and Clements called each time.

At showdown Smith tabled {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, and Clements mucked.

Glantz Falls to Anderson

Level 4
Matt Glantz
Matt Glantz

Pot-Limit Omaha

In 2012 this event only saw one elimination on the first day of play. That number has already been beaten here in 2013 as the second player of the day has fallen.

We arrived at the table just as the cards were being tabled while the flop read {10-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades}. After a series of raises, Matt Glantz was all in and at risk against Calvin Anderson.

Anderson; {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Glantz: {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Glantz was drawing big but suddenly realized that his spade outs were covered by Anderson's ace-high draw. The turn brought the {2-Clubs} and the {4-Diamonds} finished off the board causing Glantz to miss everything and eliminate him from play. He moved his chips across the table, graciously said "good game," and left the tournament area. Anderson dragged in the pot and now sits on about 220,000.

Ivey's 86 Is Good

Level 4
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

2-7 Triple Draw

Brandon Cantu, Scott Seiver and Phil Ivey capped the action before the first draw to build a juicy pot for this one. On the first draw, Cantu took two, Seiver took one, and Ivey took one. Cantu and Seiver then checked, Ivey bet, Cantu called, Seiver raised, and Ivey and Cantu called.

For the second draw, Cantu drew two, Seiver stood pat, and Ivey took one. Cantu then checked, Seiver bet, Ivey called, and Cantu raised. Seiver called, and Ivey called.

For the final draw, Cantu and Seiver stood pat while Ivey took one. Then, Cantu led with a bet, Seiver called, and Ivey over-called.

Cantu mucked his hand, not opting to show at all, and Seiver shot a look over to Ivey. Ivey tabled the {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, and Seiver mucked his hand.

Hold'em Hand to Harman

Level 4

No-Limit Hold'em

A middle-position raise to 1,500 by Shawn Buchanan earned a couple of callers, including Jennifer Harman in the big blind. The flop came {9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. It checked to Buchanan who bet 3,500, and only Harman called. Both players then checked the {7-Hearts} turn.

The river brought the {6-Clubs}. Harman sat quietly for a moment, then tossed out a bet of 6,000. Buchanan thought about 15 seconds, then let his hand go.

Stud

Doyle Brunson has been steadily adding to his stack all evening, and he just claimed a few more chips in a hand of seven-card stud.

Buchanan: ({x-}{x-}) / {7-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} — FOLDED
Harman: ({x-}{x-}) / {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Spades} — FOLDED
Brunson: ({x-}{x-}) / {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} — WIN

On fourth street three players were vying for the pot — Jennifer Harman, Doyle Brunson, and Shawn Buchanan. Harman bet, Buchanan called, Brunson raised, and both Harman and Buchanan called.

On fifth Harman bet again, and Buchanan folded. Brunson raised, however, and after thinking it over Harman decided to let her hand go.
