Event #18: $10,000 Dealer's Choice 6-Handed

Day 2 Completed

Zinno Surges Late as 13 Bag in $10,000 Dealer's Choice

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
Anthony Zinno
Anthony Zinno

In a field of some of the toughest mixed-game players out there, a player known mostly for his no-limit prowess has emerged as chip leader with 13 players remaining.

Anthony Zinno sits atop the counts as the event calendar closes up on Day 2 and prepares to turn the page to Day 3 of the $10,000 Dealer's Choice at the World Series of Poker. Zinno has shown his ability in other disciplines before, most notably winning the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller in 2015 for over $1.1 million — his only bracelet to date.

Zinno finished with 922,000 to wrap things up with a surprisingly large lead considering how most of Friday's play shook out.

Most of the way through, it looked like Adam Friedman or Chris Klodnicki would bag in first place. The two bracelet winners exchanged leads around the 750,000 mark late in the day, with the pace of bustouts slowing to a crawl. While both players bagged solid stacks — 735,500 for Friedman and 560,000 for Klodnicki — Zinno snuck by them late. Alexey Makarov (709,500) was the other player pushing for the lead in the latter stages.

After a fairly quick run of early eliminations and the expected wall approaching the bubble, just four players hit the rail in the money in the final four hours or so — Timothy Batow, Lawrence Berg, Mikko Hirvonen and start-of-day leader Bryce Yockey. Selection of big-bet games like Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw appeared to largely give way to games like Badeucey and Limit Omaha Hi-Lo.

The tournament felt like a slog late due in part to the slowed pace and in part because of another episode of broken air conditioning that made it seem as if play took place in a sauna.

Those who have fought through to Day 3 will be rewarded with a tough field featuring six bracelet winners in the final 13. They'll resume play at 2 p.m. with limits of 12,000/24,000 in limit games and blinds of 3,000/6,000 in big-bet games. Come back to PokerNews to see who will claim the first-place prize of nearly $300,000 in prize money and WSOP gold.

Aditya Prasetyo took one card on the second draw, Jesse Martin and Joey Couden took two, and Dylan Linde closed things by taking one. Everyone checked and Martin took two while everyone else took one. Action checked to Couden, who bet. Only Prasetyo called but he couldn't beat {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{a-}.

Number Two for Prasetyo

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

From the cutoff, Aditya Prasetyo raised to 20,000 and the action folded to David Baker in the big blind. He raised, Prasetyo went all in for his last 33,000, and Baker called.

Both players drew two, and then on the second draw Baker drew two again as Prasetyo stood pat.

On the final draw Baker drew two again and Prasetyo stood pat.

Prasetyo: {6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}{A-}
Baker: {6-}{5-}{3-}

Baker was drawing dead and found the {3-} and {2-} while Prasetyo double to 71,000 in chips.

Friedman Fending Off Klodnicki

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw

Adam Friedman let Chris Klodnicki slip past him into the lead but appears to have regained it as the clock ticks under 10 minutes left here on Day 2. In a recent triple draw hand, Friedman patted going to the end and Klodnicki took a card. Klodnicki called a final bet but couldn't beat {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

Prasetyo on the Down

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Stud Hi-Lo

Catching the action on fifth street, Aditya Prasetyo bet 20,000 and David Baker called. On sixth, Prasetyo checked, and Baker bet. Prasetyo called.

Prasetyo: {X-}{X-} / {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Hearts} / {X-}
Baker: {X-}{X-} / {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} / {X-}

On seventh, both players checked, and Baker tabled his {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of eights, while Prasetyo showed his {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a pair of sixes.

No-Limit Hold'em

Aditya Prasetyo opened in the cutoff to 12,500 before Joey Couden three-bet to 36,000 from the small blind.

Prasetyo called and the dealer spread a {8-Spades}{A-Spades}{9-Spades} flop.

Couden checked, Prasetyo bet 26,000, and Couden check-raised all in for his last 347,000. Prasetyo folded, and Couden was awarded the pot.

ODB Finds Call Button

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

David "ODB" Baker opened for 13,000 under the gun and got action from Aditya Prasetyo on the button and Joey Couden in the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{k-Spades} and Baker continued for 27,000. Only Couden wanted to see the {q-Diamonds} turn. Both checked and the river was a {9-Hearts}. Couden bet 48,000.

Baker went deep into the tank, alternating between staring at the board and thinking, and evaluating Couden. After a couple of minutes, he dropped in calling chips. Couden showed {a-}{j-} and Baker snapped over {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}.

Makarov Climbing

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Chris Klodnicki raised and Stuart Rutter called from the small blind. Alexey Makarov raised to 30,000 in the big, and both Klodnicki and Rutter called.

The flop landed {J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} and Makarov bet out as only Rutter called.

The turn landed the {10-Clubs} and after another Rutter check, Makarov bet, and Rutter called.

The river landed the {10-Diamonds}, and Rutter checked a third time over to Makarov, and the Russian fired out a bet of 20,000.

Rutter's cards immediately were flung to the muck, and Makarov collected the pot.
