Daniels Shows a Bluff

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Unn Choi raised and called a three-bet by table neighbor Shawn Daniels to see a flop of {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Choi checked and Daniels continued for 14,200 only to be met with a check-raise to 29,000 by Choi. Daniels quickly moved all in and Choi folded.

"Will this be on the blog?" Daniels asked. "I only show if it's on the blog," and then proceeded to flip over the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

"Well done," and "nice move" were some of the comments Daniels received with a big smile on the face while he dragged in the pot.

Lau Gets Some Back

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

With more than 100,000 already in the pot and the completed board showing {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Timothy Lau bet 50,000 and his sole remaining opponent gave it some thought before making the call. Lau, who only had some 40,000 behind, turned over the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for a pair of queens and that ended up winning the pot.

Below are further assorted stacks just before the dinner break.

Eric Hicks
Eric Hicks

A sizeable pot worht about 75,000 had accumulated in the middle between Eric Hicks and Alexandru Papazian. The board read {8-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Hicks checked. Papazian moved all in for 45,200 and after just a moment, Hicks made the call.

"Good call," said Papazian who tabled the {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for just a pair of eights. Hicks turned over the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and collected the pot.

Dodd Puts a Stop to Seiver's Run

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Scott Seiver has had a profitable day thus far, running up his stack from under 50,000 to over 100,000 in a matter of a couple levels. However, after recently being moved to a new table, Corey Dodd had something to say about that.

Seiver opened to 1,800 from the cutoff and Dodd defended from the big blind. The flop fell {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Dodd check-called a bet of 1,200 from Seiver. The {j-Clubs} paired the board on the turn and Dodd checked to Seiver again who bet 3,300. Dodd continued to call and the {8-Spades} landed on the river.

Dodd checked for the third time and Seiver thought for a brief moment before tapping the table as well. Dodd turned over {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for trip jacks and Seiver's cards went flying to the muck.

Katz Wins a Nice Pot

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

A player opened from middle position to 2,000 and the hijack called, as did Cary Katz from the big blind.

Katz checked on the {3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop and the initial raiser bet 3,000. The player in the hijack was out, but Katz called to see the {5-Hearts} turn roll off the deck. Katz chose to lead out on the turn by betting 6,400 and he got a call.

The {7-Clubs} river card completed the board and Katz threw one orange chip in for a 5,000 bet. His opponent called but mucked his hand when Katz showed {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a rivered straight.

Another player at the table told Katz that he has a read on him. "You only play aces and five-four" and Katz started laughing.

Ace in the Window Isn't Enough for Alden

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

The table was still talking about a cooler hand that just previously occurred where pocket queens ran into pocket aces, not knowing they were about to witness another one. After a raise to 2,600 from the hijack, Edwin Alden shoved all in for just under 20,000 in the cutoff. Shinya Shimada was in the small blind and pushed all in over the top, getting the original raiser to fold.

Shinya Shimada: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Edwin Alden: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The dealer fanned the flop with the {a-Clubs} in the window. "No!" Shimada screamed, but it quickly turned into a "Yes!" when the {k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} followed it. Alden hit his ace but Shimada flopped a set of kings, leaving Alden drawing extremely thin. The turn and river were no help and Alden headed for the exit doors as Shimada scooped the pot.

Bicknell Binks Straight over Straight

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

We can't tell when the money went in as the board and hole cards were already tabled when we arrived, but Kristen Bicknell scored a knockout after her {J-Spades}{7-Spades} hit a straight on the {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{K-Clubs} board. Unfortunately for her opponent, he also hit a straight but only the inferior one as he held {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Bicknell is still far from par but the recent win brought her stack up to 38,000.
