Straight for Montgomery

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Action begun with a raise under the gun from Scott Montgomery to 4,500. Ahmed Taleb called in the cutoff, Donald Forshey called from the button, and Adam Swan defended his big blind.

The dealer spread a {7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and after Swan checked, Montgomery bet 9,000. Taleb and Forshey called, as Swan mucked.

The turn landed the {5-Diamonds} and Montgomery and Taleb both checked to Forshey who bet 22,000. Montgomery called, but Taleb folded.

The river fell the {8-Diamonds} and both players checked. Montgomery revealed his {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a straight, and Forshey mucked.

Jackson Busts Aldenkamp

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Hidde Aldenkamp moved in all but 1 chip and Joshua Jackson called from one seat over, already tabling his cards with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Even before the floor could be called, Aldenkamp confirmed he had moved all in and showed the {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The boar came {Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} and that was it for Aldenkamp.

At least one dozen players have already been eliminated in the small Amazon Tan section, with new players such as George Danzer and Kiryl Radzivonau arriving from different sections shortly after.

Tran Doubles Up

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
JC Tran
JC Tran

A player in early position raised to 5,100 and JC Tran three-bet shoved from the hijack for what looked like 27,500. After a bit of time in the tank, the original raiser called to put Tran at risk.

JC Tran: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Tran had the preflop advantage and his opponent needed to improve in order to win. The board ran out {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs} which missed both players entirely so Tran took the pot to double up.

888poker Ambassador Talbot Eliminated

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Parker Talbot
Parker Talbot

The action folded around to Parker Talbot in middle position, and he called for 2,000. David Gerassi called on the button as did the small blind and the big blind player checked their option.

On the {8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop, they action checked around to Gerrassi, and he bet 5,000. The two players in the blinds folded before Talbot moved all in. Gerassi called, and Talbot was behind.

David Gerassi: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Parker Talbot: {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Turn: {6-Hearts}
River: {7-Diamonds}

Talbot couldn't improve and was eliminated in the first level of the day. It means that Team8 Canada has seen all three of their team member eliminated from the 888poker Team Challenge after Mike Leah and Jonathan Schaler and already exited the Main Event.

The Young Guns vs The Old Gods

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Trey Harrell
Trey Harrell

Twenty-one year old Trey Harrell is one of the youngest players in the Main Event this year, and he's been put up against arguably his toughest opponent ever, Phil Ivey.

In the hand, Harrell opened on the button with raise to 3,500. Ivey was in the big blind and he defended with a call.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Ivey checked to Harrell who led with a bet of 3,300. Ivey called.

Both players checked on the {K-Spades} turn to see the {7-Clubs} on the river. There, Ivey led out with a bet of 15,000 and Harrel promptly folded.

Earlier in the week, PokerNews' Sean Chaffin sat down with Harrell and his mother for an interview about his experience in the Main Event and it can be found here.
