Brutal Main Event Bubble: Aces Cracked by Kings

Level 4 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante
Brutal bubble: aces cracked by kings
Brutal bubble: aces cracked by kings

On the stone bubble, Vitaliy "Durdy" Pankov moved all in for 68,766 with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and Diogo "EsteSenhor" Veiga, with the superior stack, reshoved one seat over with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

It was a cruel twist of fate for Pankov; instead of scoring a double-up on the bubble of the biggest online poker event of all time, a king flopped to dash his hopes and dreams on the spot.

After all the action on all tables had concluded, it turned out Pankov was one drawing the short straw and had to leave the tournament empty-handed. All remaining players are now guaranteed at least $11,834 for their efforts.

Hellmuth Eliminated by Bakke

Level 3 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Hellmuth eliminated by Bakke
Hellmuth eliminated by Bakke

The action kicked off with a button raise by Oeystein "oyba" Bakke, who made it 17,000 to go. Phil Hellmuth was in the big blind and called to see a flop of {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} on which both players opted to check.

After the {k-Diamonds} turn, Hellmuth checked and faced a bet of 19,000 by Bakke, who was then min-raised to 38,000 by Hellmuth. Bakke moved all in and Hellmuth called with the slightly inferior stack.

Phil Hellmuth: {k-Spades}{2-Spades}
Oeystein "oyba" Bakke: {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Hellmuth needed a spade to double or queen and nine to chop but instead the {6-Clubs} fell on the river to end his tournament outside of the money.

Holz Comes Up Short

Level 3 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

The lone GGPoker Ambassador left in the field, Fedor Holz, has also been unable to turn a profit in this event. Two back-to-back hands would bring the end of the German juggernaut and founder of PokerCode.

In the first one, the fast majority of Holz' chips went in. It was "thebluek" who raised to 17,600 in middle position Guilherme "Forest trump" Dos Santos three-bet to 55,200 one seat over. Holz then four-bet shoved all in for 281,243 on the button.

However, Jerome "tonij" Evans woke up in the big blind with a monster and called all in for 254,672. The others knew what time it was to leave Evans and Holz heads-up.

Jerome "tonij" Evans: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Fedor Holz: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The board came down {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for Evans to double with the nut flush. Holz final bigs went in in the next hand holding {j-Spades}{2-Spades}, but he was unable to defeat Oshri Lahmani's {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs} to leave the tournament without any GGPoker ambassadors.

Rodrigo "digopapel" Semeghini: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
"unobet": {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Steven van Zadelhoff
Steven van Zadelhoff

Steven van Zadelhoff's Main Event dreams came to an end in the second level of the day. First, the Dutchman lost a race with deuces against Nicolas "BabyBoy3009" Fischer's ace-king to be left with a little over ten big blinds.

Those went in the next hand against Johan "YoHViral" Guilbert, who called all in for slightly less.

Steven van Zadelhoff: {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Johan "YoHViraL" Guilbert: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

It was death by quads for Van Zadelhoff on a {7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} board. Left with mere dust, he lost that the next hand to be eliminated.

Fatehi vs Vousden

Raigo "SickPapa" Vakra raised to 11,000 from under the gun and was called by Samuel Vousden in the cutoff and Ali Reza Fatehi in the big blind.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, Fatehi took some time and then bet 13,365, Vakra folded for Vousden to raise it up to 26,730 which Fatehi called.

Early Demise for Ramos

Level 1 : 2,500/5,000, 625 ante
Ramos Eliminated Early
Ramos Eliminated Early

GGPoker ambassador Felipe Ramos started off the day as one of the short stacks and had 53,898 left when his final hand occurred. Seated in the hijack, he moved all in and Michel "CrossfireX" Dattani came over the top from the small blind.

Felipe Ramos: {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Michel "CrossfireX" Dattani: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The {4-Spades}{q-Spades}{6-Spades} flop slashed one of Ramos' outs away, and neither the {7-Hearts} turn nor {9-Spades} river could save his Main Event life.
