Chidwick Flops a Set to Bust Bonomo

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Justin Bonomo shipped all in for his last 420,000 from the hijack and Stephen Chidwick re-raised to 800,000 on the button which got the blinds to fold.

Justin Bonomo: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Stephen Chidwick: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} to give Chidwick a set of sevens. The {a-Clubs} on the turn meant Bonomo was drawing dead to the {10-Spades} on the river.

Bonomo Getting Short

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

With nearly 500,000 in the pot and {9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} on the board, Justin Bonomo bet 80,000. Christoph Vogelsang let the shot clock run all the way down before raising to 300,000. Bonomo called to see {10-Clubs} on the river.

Bonomo checked and Vogelsang placed a stack of T-100,000 chips in the middle, more than enough to put Bonomo at risk. Bonomo tanked for a short time before getting away from it.

Peters Gets After It, Heath Calls Him Down

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Ben Heath opened to 110,000 from the hijack and picked up calls from Nilesh Patel, Jake Schindler, and David Peters in the big blind. The flop came {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and the action checked around to the {7-Diamonds} on the turn.

Peters led out with a bet of 120,000 and only Heath stuck around to see the {5-Spades} on the river. Peters checked this time and Heath counted out a large bet of 755,000. Peters eyed up his stack and then reached back for a raise to 3,000,000.

Heath instantly put his hand on his head and slid some time banks out. After burning through all six of them and three and a half minutes later, Heath finally dropped in some chips to call. Peters sheepishly turned over {9-Spades}{8-Clubs} for two pair but Heath held {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for the nut flush.

Players Implement Covid Contract During WSOP $250K Super High Roller

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
SHR
SHR

Most players in the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #82: $250,000 Super High Roller agreed to sign a contract permitting any player in the tournament who tests positive for COVID-19 to be refunded the six-figure buy-in.

Christoph Vogelsang drew up a contract on a piece of paper and most signed it, although one player wanted nothing to do with it while another would only agree verbally. The contract was not officially sanctioned by the WSOP, but rather an agreement amongst the high roller contigent.

Vogelsang came up with the idea for the COVID-19 positive test payback after Chris Brewer, whom many of the Super High Roller players recently competed against in cash games at Aria, informed the poker world he tested positive for the virus.

Brewer is vaccinated and appears to have only experienced mild symptoms, most notably a loss of taste. On Friday, he joked about now being able to eat all the healthy food he dislikes.

Coronavirus Tests Required to Play

Behind the three Super High Roller tables inside the Amazon room, dozens of self-use COVID-19 tests were placed on an empty table for players to use. The players asked that everyone test for the virus prior to the start of play on Day 2 (Friday).

Most of the 26 unique players in the $250,000 buy-in bracelet event appeared to be on board with the protocols. PokerNews caught up with Seth Davies, who is in the tournament, on a break. He confirmed that Vogelsang drew up a contract and that all players were required to test negative prior to competing.

"I think it was a good idea because it's the WSOP official policy," Davies said of the COVID-19 contract, meaning the policy that anyone who tested positive would be required to leave the tournament. "Say you came in today with 4 million chips and tested positive, it would save you."

Davies said that everyone who cashed and agreed to the contract would "pay out proportional."

As he explained, the money would be reimbursed to a player who tests positive via the prize pool. He also said, however, it's unlikely anyone will test positive for COVID-19, and there were no positive tests on Day 2.

For now, the COVID contract is a mere safety net for players, and only time will tell if it comes into play.

Peters Takes a Big Pot from Patel

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

With over 1,000,000 in the pot and {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} on the board, Nilesh Patel bet 900,000 and David Peters called.

The river was {6-Clubs} and Patel continued for 1,400,000.

After a moment of thought, Peters looked him up. Patel showed {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Peters tabled {k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} to take the pot with kings and sixes.

Elsewhere at the table, Ali Imsirovic has fallen below the 1 million mark.

Badziakoski Loses Two in a Row

Level 13 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Keith Tilston limped in from the small blind and Mikita Badziakouski checked his option. The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Tilston led out with a bet of 65,000 which Badziakouski called.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and Tilston fired out another bet of 135,000. Badziakouski called again and the {a-Clubs} hit the river. Both players checked and Tilston showed {q-Spades}{9-Hearts} for the winner.

On the next hand, Daniel Negreanu opened to 100,000 in the hijack and Badziakouski called from the small blind. The flop fell {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and both players checked to the {8-Spades} on the turn.

Badziakouski led out with a bet of 100,000 and Negreanu called to see the {2-Diamonds} on the river. Badziakouski bet 150,000 and Negreanu quickly called. Badziakouski slid his cards to the muck and Negreanu did not have to show his cards to win the pot.
