Faraz Jaka Bags Big on Day 1 in Event #49: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em

The first day of Event #49: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em of the 2022 World Series of Poker saw a total of 1,977 walk through the doors of the Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas, generating a prize pool of $3,519,060, which will see the champion walk away with $527,944.

At the end of the day, only 311 made it through to Day 2 and one of the players to bag a big stack at the end of the day was Faraz Jaka, who compiled a noteworthy stack of 735,000 chips.

Jaka sat around average stack for most of the day and it was not until the last few levels of play that he really started to spin up a stack. The Californian player has $6,957,844 in career earnings and a total of 68 cashes in WSOP events. Look for him to continue his end-of-the-day heater as he aims for his first ever WSOP gold bracelet.

There were several big stacks that made it through and that list includes WSOP champion Romain Lewis (520,000), Natalie Hof (431,000), Alex Keating (309,000), Joao Vieira (295,000), Bart Lybaert (256,000) and Women in Poker Hall of Fame member Maria Ho (166,000).

A lot of notable pros made it through and one of them is three-time WSOP champion Kristen Foxen who amassed a comfortable stack of 306,000. Chris Moorman (160,000), Yaser Al-Keliddar (134,000), Harrison Gimbel (129,000), Johan Guilbert (184,000), Justin Liberto (117,000), Bertrand Grospellier (95,000) and Matas Cimbolas (85,000) are just a few other stellar names to look out for on Day 2..

There were many big names that played but failed to make the cut and that list includes the likes of Kenny Hallaert, Guillaume Diaz, Calvin Anderson, Jared Griener, Anatoly Filatov, Diogo Veiga, Matt Stout and 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Joe Cada.

The remaining players will be back on the felt on June 24 at 1:00 p.m. local time. With 310 players left vying for 297 places in the money (for a min-cash worth $3,205), there is no doubt that the bubble will be reached not long after the players are back in their seats.

Play will restart at Level 16, blinds 3,000/ 6,000 with a 6,000 ante, and this time 10 levels of 60-minute are scheduled, with a 15-minute break every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after level 21 (≈ 7:30 p.m.).
