Eldridge Gets McAlpin to Call Big River Bet

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
David Eldridge
David Eldridge

The board was {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} and David Eldridge, from the hijack, had already fired a bet of 27,500 into a pot of roughly the same size.

Maria McAlpin, in the cutoff, went deep into the tank for several minutes, apologizing to the table on multiple occasions.

Despite staring Eldridge down on multiple occasions after stacking various amounts of chips, McAlpin finally made the call.

Eldridge flipped over {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for the flush, which had McAlpin shrugging her shoulders.

Thornton Wins at Table Full of Main Event Experience

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Andrew Ostapchenko raised to 1,500 from the cutoff and was called by Mitchell Halverson on the button and big blind Schuyler Thornton.

All three players checked the {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop before Thornton led out for 3,500 on the {8-Spades} turn.

Only Ostapchenko called to see the {4-Hearts} on the river. Thornton bet another 4,500 and Ostapchenko quickly folded.

This table is full of players who have made deep Main Event runs in the past. Halverson was 15th last year, while Ostapchenko was 33rd in 2017. Robin Hegele, who made the final three tables that same year, is also seated here.

Small Pot for Julius

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

In a raised pot, the flop was {5-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades} when Kyle Julius called in the hijack a bet worth 1,500 from his opponent.

Both checked on the {9-Hearts} and {2-Hearts} river and Julius's opponent announced ace-high. Julius tabled {j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for a pair of queens and his opponent mucked his cards.

Action is on Dizer. Or is It?

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

K.L. Cleeton bet 9,000 on a board of {5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and received two calls, including by Russell Dizer in early position.

The {3-Diamonds} fell on the river and action was on Dizer. He sat motionless for several minutes staring at the board before Stephen Song eventually called the clock.

Dizer then said he had already checked and was waiting on Cleeton to act as the table burst out laughing. Cleeton checked behind, as did the third player.

Cleeton showed ace-king, but Dizer turned over {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a set of fives to win the pot.

"Diamonds got there. Or you could've had a set of aces," Dizer said to Cleeton after the hand.

Witteles Takes One from Vieira

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The board already showed {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts} in a heads-up pot when Todd Witteles, in the big blind, checked to Joao Vieira who also checked.

The river fell the {4-Diamonds} and Witteles bet 2,000 before facing a raise from Vieira for 11,000. Witteles went deep into the tank and eventually called. Vieira showed {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} but Witteles took down the pot with {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a better two pair.

On the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs} board and 4,000 in the pot. Stanislav Urodlivchenko bet 3,000 from the hijack and was called by Adam Brownstone in the cutoff.

Max Hirshik: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Stanislav Urodlivchenko: {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Hirshik flopped trips but was still vulnerable to his opponent's flush draw. The {q-Hearts} completed the board and Hirshik breathed some life into his stack.

Chilaud Takes It on the River

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Christina Gollins opened to 1,200 and Maxime Chilaud three-bet to 3,600 in the hijack. André Marques four-bet to 10500 in the small blind and Gollins folded to Chilaud who opted to call.

The flop went {q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Chilaud called Marques's small continuation bet for 2,100. The {k-Spades} brought no betting action.

On the {8-Clubs} river, Marques tanked before checking and Chilaud decided to send 13,000 in the middle. Marques didn't take long to muck his cards.

Du Takes From Green

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

In a heads-up pot of roughly 3,000 against two bracelet winners, the flop was {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Yue Du checked from the big blind and Brian Green bet 1,500 on the button which was called.

The turn came the {2-Diamonds} and both players checked their option. On the {k-Hearts} river Du bet out 4,300 and Green quickly called.

Du rolled over {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for the turned flush and Green mucked his hand, awarding the chips to Du.
