Alt looked hard at the board, which contained 7♥6♦10♠2♥A♥, and then Brand, who hardly moved. Alt took his time to consider his options, putting his elbow on the rail and resting his chin for up to a minute.

Then, he made the call.

Alt caught the semi-bluff by pairing his ace on the river and was awarded a large pot, which only elevated the Day 1 chip leader’s stack. He also sent Brand to the rail.

And then time stood still.

The player in early position then went in the tank for minutes before a player called for the clock. The dealer then called for the floor, who came over and ruled the player would be given a 10-second warning and a 30-second countdown.

As the floor counted down from five seconds, time expired and the hand was ruled dead, rewarding the pot to Benso.
