Hawkins Playing Mind Games Nearing End of Night

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Maurice Hawkins
Maurice Hawkins

The cutoff opened to 1,400 and Maurice Hawkins defended the big blind.

"We have the same hand," said Hawkins.

"Should we just chop it now then?" Responded the cutoff.

The dealer brought out the AJJ flop and Hawkins checked.

"I checked, he checks, go to to the turn," Hawkins continued.

However, the cutoff did not check as he tossed a bet of 1,000 across the line. Hawkins called.

The Q hit the turn and Hawkins checked again while saying, "we have the same hand, free river." This time his opponent checked back.

The 9 fell on the river and Hawkins led for 3,300.

"Now we play the game of do you believe me."

After a few moments, it seemed the cutoff did believe him as he tossed his cards into the muck.

Hawkins showed one of his cards, tabling the J and mucked the other.

A completed board of 752JK was spread across the felt with a little over 30,000 in the middle. Joseph Ritzie led out with a bet of 16,500 after also leading out on the turn. Brittney Stout was sitting on his left and jammed all in as the bigger of the two stacks.

"Oh god," Ritzie said being put to the test for his last 47,000 chips.

"You can call me Brittney, actually," Stout reminded him but she couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Ritzie went into the tank and tried to get a read on Stout by talking to her. "I don't know what you want me to say. I'm all in, I can't do anything else," Stout continued as she tied her hoodie tight around her face.

Ritzie eventually laid his hand down, noting that he folded seven-five for two pair. Stout also showed her hand with KJ going face up into the middle of the table.
