Second Break of the Day

The second 20-minute break of Day 2abc has arrived and the players are leaving the tournament area. When they come back, play will continue in Level 8 of the WSOP Main Event.

Meanwhile, late registration has closed and 196 people opted to jump in on Day 2abc.

In the meantime, here are some highlights from the second level of play.

Powers Holds On to Double Off Rodriguez

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Enrique Rodriguez had a bet of 7,500 in front of him from middle position with the flop showing 563 when David Powers, in the small blind, moved all in for around 30,000. Rodriguez gave it some thought before calling.

Powers was ahead with his set of sixes, but Rodriguez picked up on a flush draw on the 7 turn.

"No heart, dealer," Powers pleaded heading to the river, which came the Q as Powers' set held up to secure his double up right as players were heading off on break.

Botfeld Shoves River

Amanda Botfeld raised to 2,200 in first position and both the button and the small blind came along.

The flop peeled off 7810 and action checked through to the 7 turn where the small blind checked to Botfeld who bet 3,500 which only the small blind called.

On the 3 river, the small blind checked a third time and Botfeld moved all in for 13,500 effective and the small blind quickly folded, ceding the pot to Botfeld.

Bin Khalek Jams Into Lim

In a three-way three-bet pot to the J74 flop with 20,500 in the middle, Abu Hamza Bin Khalek bet 7,500 out of the small blind. That forced out the player in the big blind while Chin Wei "Webster" Lim called in the cutoff.

The 7 turn paired the board and Bin Khalek moved all-in with the covering stack, Lim instantly folded.

Zeng Makes the Full House on Yuan

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Linglin Zeng raised to 2,000 in early position and called a three-bet from Xiaoqiang Yuan.

Both checked throughout the board A10105 and 7 fell on the river. This time Zeng took the lead and bet 16,000. Yuan opted to call but mucked his cards when he saw 55 in Zeng's hand for the full house.

Scott Applies the Pressure

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player in the hijack raised to 2,000, finding Jeffrey Scott in the small blind who three-bet to 9,000. His opponent called.

The flop of 98J checked through to the 4 on the turn. Scott retook the lead with a bet of 9,000. His opponent called.

The 3 on the river saw Scott think for some time before deciding to bet again, this time for 35,000 forcing his opponent to fold.

Hasson Takes One, Brenes Bust

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Ori Hasson sat in the small blind and was battling in a 13,000 pot against a player in hijack. Both players checked the J59 flop before Hasson led out for 9,000 chips on the 4 turn.

The hijack quickly folded and Hasson won some chips. Meanwhile, Humberto Brenes was eliminated from the tournament when his set was no good against another set and a flush.

Matusow Battles Chan

Johnny Chan opened to 2,200 from early position and Mike Matusow called from the button.

Chan checked and Matusow bet 2,200 on the 1074 flop. Chan made the call.

The turn was the Q. Chan checked, Matusow bet 8,000 and Chan quickly folded.

Matusow flashed A4 for a pair of fours and the nut-flush draw before scooping the pot.

Zhou Shows Aces

He Zhou opened to 2,200 and found a caller with David Kahan in the big bind.

A paired flop K22 appeared and Kahan check-c called Zhou for 1,500. The K turn didn't bring any action.

The 5 completed the board and after a last check from Kahan, Zhou bet 3,000. Kahan quickly called but mucked after Zhou flipped over AA.

Stern Shows Scheinberg Queens

Isai Scheinberg, the Poker Hall of Fame nominee and founder of PokerStars, is in the field today but just dropped a pot against Brett Stern.

Stern and Scheinberg went to the turn on a board of 3763 when Scheinberg bet 10,000 from the small blind. Stern called in early position as the J fell on the river.

Scheinberg now checked and Stern checked behind, showing QQ. Scheinberg mucked 1010. "I put you on jacks, actually," Stern, who has nearly 50,000 subscribers to his "Brettski" YouTube channel, told the poker visionary after the hand.
