Nielsen Picks Off a Bluff

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Martin Nielsen opened to 2,000 from middle position and it folded to the big blind who made the call.

The flop came KJ4 and the big blind check-called a bet of 1,800 from Nielsen. On the 7 turn both players checked their options to the A river.

The big blind took some time before tossing out a bet of 12,000 and Nielsen went deep into the tank. After close to a minute, Nielsen made the call and the cards were shown.

The big blind tabled J6 for a pair of jacks and Nielsen rolled over A10 for the rivered ace to score the pot.

Jose Montes opened to 1,800 in middle position and was called by James Gregg on his left. Espen Jorstad three-bet to 7,400 on the button and both Montes and Gregg called.

The flop fell 1083 and the action checked around to the 6 on the turn. Montes led out with a bet of 11,000 which Gregg called and Jorstad stepped aside.

The river was the 2 and Montes fired out another bet of 12,000. Gregg raised to 41,000 which sent Montes into the tank for nearly three minutes before he finally dumped his cards in the muck.

The reigning 2022 Main Event champion is still off to a strong start on Day 2abc after scoring an early knockout with pocket kings.

Martin Jacobson raised on the button and got called by Kyle Chang in the big blind to see a flop 10K6. Chang check-raised to 5,500 Jacobson's continuation of 2,000 and the latter called.

The A turn didn't bring any action and a 8 landed on the river. Chang sent 10,100 in the middle and after some thinking, Jacobson let it go.

Moshe Calls Out Correct Cards; Loses Pot

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

With some 20,000 in the middle to the 8445K river, Asi Moshe moved all-in with the covering stack and that sent Nicholas Civitarese deep into the tank.

After three minutes, Civitarese asked "what do you think I have?" and Moshe almost instantly replied "seven eight of hearts".

Civitarese tanked another minute and then called all-in for 36,000 to show his ... 87! Moshe was caught with a move holding the 66 and dropped below the starting stack.

"I think he folds if you don't say anything," Javier Zarco remarked.

Zamani Not Wasting Time Stacking Chips

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Martin Zamani was under the gun and bet 1,700 on a flop of K4Q. Daniel Murphy called in early position, while another opponent in the big blind folded.

The turn came the A and Zamani checked. Murphy fired out 5,000 and Zamani folded as Murphy showed J10.

Despite dropping that pot, Zamani has already doubled his stack after late registering on Day 2. "He's only been here for 15 minutes and he's already running elaborate bluffs. He's proof-positive to buy-in on Day 2," a tablemate said.

Barnes Rises With Rocket

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Christopher Chaudey raised to 1,700 in early position which saw Anthony Barnes three bet to 5,300 from the hijack and on the button, Ivan Govorov four bet to 18,000. Chaudey asked for a count of Govorov's stack before tossing his hand into the muck and Barnes moved all in for 57,000 effective and Govorov called.

Ivan Govorov: JJ
Anthony Barnes: AA

The board ran out K78102 and Chaudey turned away from the table in frustration as he said he folded AK which would have made a flush, while it was Barnes' aces that remained ahead for him to take down the pot and eliminate Govorov from the tournament.

Kim Muscles Up

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

After calling a 5,000 bet from the big blind on a 3259 board, Jinwoo Kim led out for 8,300 on the 5 river.

The big blind tanked for a while, with his chin resting on his fist, but was unable to find a call, and Kim continued his Day 2 climb.

Merrick Only Bluffs Once, Allegedly

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Baker Abdallah raised from the hijack and called a subsequent three-bet to 5,500 by cutoff Andrew Merrick.

The flop was fanned out 852 and Merrick continued for 6,500 after a check from Abdallah. The latter then called and the 9 turn hit the felt.

Merrick now upped the ante to 15,000 after another check from his opponent, and again Abdallah called. The 9 river completed the board and Abdallah checked for a third time.

This time, Merrick put out a big bet of 32,000 chips. Abdallah quickly folded and Merrick showed his 107 for just ten-high.

"This is my only bluff of the day," Merrick claimed as he was stacking his new chips.
