In a blind versus blind battle, John David Rogers got his last 185,000 in the middle against Dylan Smith.
John David Rogers: A♦8♦
Dylan Smith: A♣K♦
Smith had Rogers dominated as the flop came 7♠2♠3♦. The 9♦ turn gave Rogers some hope with a flush draw, while he completed the flush on the 6♦ river to double up and stay alive.
Keith Lehr was all in on the river of a K♥J♦10♠A♦7♣ board, with action on David Benyamine. After a few moments, Benyamine made the call and saw the bad news.
Lehr revealed K♣Q♠J♣10♥ for a straight, good enough to double his stack through Benyamine.
Stephen Chidwick raised to 25,000 in the hijack before Joao Vieira three-bet to 115,000 in the big blind. Chidwick called and they went heads-up to the 9♥3♣9♣ flop.
Vieira then bet 80,000 and Chidwick took a minute before calling. The turn was the 8♦ and Vieira bet 130,000.
Chidwick again tanked for several minutes, but this time he decided to let his hand go as Vieira took the pot.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the eighth episode, Connor speaks with legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer in an exclusive in-depth interview after Buffer's deep run in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 High Roller. Buffer, a longtime poker player, finished in eighth place for a career-best $212,423 after kicking off Day 3 with his trademark "it's time" introduction.
Buffer talked about finding his long-lost half-brother, Michael Buffer, and becoming his manager, the early days of the UFC, the similarities between poker and martial arts, his relationships with Joe Rogan and Dana White, playing poker with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and the time he injured himself in a poker tournament before announcing the biggest UFC fight in history.
Aaron Katz called in the small blind and Jeremy Ausmus checked his big blind option.
Katz slid out two cards and checked, while Ausmus drew three and checked behind. Katz selected three cards again on the second draw, with Ausmus taking another two.
Katz led out with a bet, making the call after Ausmus raised. Katz then took one card and Ausmus stood pat.
A check from Katz led to a bet from Ausmus, who was then facing a check-raise on his left. After a few moments, Ausmus let his hand go.
"You need one of these," said Katz as he showed the 2♥. "I had 'em all," Katz continued as he showed Ausmus the rest of his deuces while raking in the pot.
Keith Lehr moved all in for 92,000 from middle position and was looked up by Michael Rocco in the big blind.
Keith Lehr: J♠10♦
Michael Rocco: A♠8♥
Lehr was behind and would need help to survive. The 6♦2♣9♣ flop did not do much for the at risk player but the 10♥ turn propelled Lehr into the lead as he would only need to fade an ace or seven on the river. The J♣ river unnecessarily improved Lehr to top two to hand him a full double at the expense of Rocco.
Viktor Blom opened to 40,000 from under the gun and Dylan Smith called in the hijack as Jared Bleznick defended his big blind. Bleznick drew one, Blom drew three and Smith drew two.
Action checked through after the first draw each player drew the same amount they drew previously. Bleznick then bet 40,000 and both of his opponents folded.
Three-handed going to the first draw, Phil Ivey bet from the big blind and Dylan Smith called in the cutoff, as did small blind Stephen Chidwick.
Chidwick drew two, while Ivey and Smith both took one. Ivey then bet again and both opponents called.
Ivey stood pat, while Chidwick and Smith took one. All three players checked and Ivey showed a 9-7. Smith and Chidwick both mucked and Ivey took the pot.
Gus Hansen earlier became the first player to be eliminated today.
