Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the ninth episode, Connor speaks with poker streamer and reality TV star Kevin Martin, who opened up about his experience on the hit GGPoker show Game of Gold and gave some insight into his upcoming appearance on The Amazing Race Canada, which Martin told PokerNews will be the "final chapter" of his reality TV career.
Martin also talked about get cast for Big Brother Canada when he was 22, winning Big Brother Season 5, the traits that make for a good reality TV contestant, the early days of poker streaming, prop bets with Dan "Jungleman" Cates and the evolution of poker content creation.
Wisconsin's Larry Ormson raised to 700 under the gun and cleared the field all the way to the player in the big blind, who opted to defend.
The flop came down 7♣J♣2♣ and action went check-check, as it did on the 9♣ turn.
When the Q♠ completed the board on the river, the player in the big blind checked and Ormson bet 2,000. The big blind quickly called and showed KxQx for a rivered pair, which bested the AxKx of Ormson.
Monika Zukowicz opened to 800 from early position and was three-bet by Steven Touitou to 2,400 in the hijack. The action folded back to Zukowicz who four-bet to 7,200, and Touitou called.
The flop came 5♠J♣Q♠ and Zukowicz continued with a bet of 4,000, which Touitou called.
A 10♦ landed on the turn where Zukowicz counted out another bet and put 8,000 chips into the pot. Touitou took his time before he called.
When the 8♦ completed the board, both players quickly checked it down.
Zukowicz tabled K♠K♥, and Touitou had the winner with A♠A♦.
