Barbero Fires Three Barrels

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

There has hardly been a moment of silence at table 80 with Mike Matusow and Nacho Barbero chatting constantly.

Barbero opened this pot to 1,600, and was met with a call from Adrien Favre from the small blind and Chao Duan in the big.

The three players saw a flop of AJ6. Both blinds checked and Barbero bet 2,000, Favre called and Duan got out of the way.

On the 10 turn, Barbero continued to bet and listen to, this time 5,500, all while Matusow kept his story going. Favre once again check-called.

The 4 completed the board and Favre checked. Barbero bet 21,400, leaving himself just 1,000 behind. Favre folded, and Barbero scooped up a much-needed pot.

WSOP

In poker, like in life, they say records are meant to be broken.

But sometimes, someone sets a milestone that just feels impossible to top. Whether it’s because of insane skill, perfect timing, a bit of luck, or a mix of all three, the World Series of Poker has seen some feats over the years that seem like they’ll never be matched.

However, while all records may eventually fall, these achievements are currently some of the most jaw-dropping in WSOP history. Will any of them ever be broken? Only time will tell. For now, though, here are the most incredible WSOP records that will (probably) never be broken.

Alex Foxen, who has reentered the event, raised to 2000 from middle position, Benedetto Bianco called from the hijack, Richard Green called from the small blind, and then action was on Ryan Riess. He put in a raise to 15,000. Foxen then moved all in. Bianco and Green folded, and Riess quickly called.

The board fanned out K210JA. Riess set of jacks were no good against Foxen's straight, and the 2013 Main Event Champion was eliminated.

Carnero’s Aces get Cracked

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A pot of 26,000 reached the turn, as the board read 7324 and Martin Carnero bet out for 15,000. Dale Roesel didn’t think too much about his decision, and pressured Carnero into risking his tournament life by announcing “all in”. Carnero couldn’t get away from his overpair and made the call.

Carnero was looking to improve to a wheel or a set, but he was already up and out of his seat when he bricked the K river, and left promptly.

Yankov Hits the Perfect Turn

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On a board of 8J5K Gang Zhou checked over to Krasimir Yankov. Yankov took a decent amount of time to ponder his options and finally came to the decision that 10,000 was the correct amount to bet. Zhou also waited a moment before making the call.

The river 2 was a total brick. Yet again Zhao checked, and yet again Yankov started thinking, and eventually shoved his 34,900 stack. Zhao clearly was in an uncomfortable spot, and went deep into the tank. After a little while, he rechecked his cards, thought some more, and flicked in a single 100 denomination chip, signifying a call.

Yankov confidently showed the table the nuts, in the form of KK and Zhou mucked.
