Zhao Doubles Through Mermelstein

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Action picked with Gang Zhao all in, as the board read 1075A and he was quickly called by Aaron Mermelstein, which put him at risk.

Gang Zhao: J9 All in
Aaron Mermelstein: 57

Drawing very slim, Mermelstein was not able to boat up through the Q river, and Zhao found himself with double the chips he had before the hand, while Mermelstein’s stack dwindled down towards starting.

In a heads-up pot, Fares Santana had bet 22,000 from the cutoff with the board reading 927 and Maksim Pisarenko raised all in from early position with a stack of 59,700.

Santana went deep into the tank, counting out the amount needed to call and looking at the board. Table mate Yuri Dzivielevski called the clock and Santana folded, leading Pisarenko to table the 8 as he raked in the pot and said "pocket eights."

"I don't think you had pocket eights," said Santana.

"Pocket nines," Pisarenko said with a grin.

Kornuth Gets Flushed out of the Mystery Bounty

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Three players arrived at the river, as the board read 49J72. First to act Chance Kornuth checked, and Taylor Black bet out for 12,000 into a pot of 15,000. Richard Scardina asked for a count before letting go of his cards, and after over a minute of thinking, Kornuth stacked up his chips and pushed them forward, announcing “all in” for 38,000.

Black practically beat him into the pot, as he chucked in a singular chip and almost guiltily flipped over A7, showing he flopped the stone cold nuts, and kept them to the river.

Kornuth, forced to show his cards, revealed that he too had flopped a flush, however his 65 was no match.

One player at the table remarked that Black must have “sat up in his chair” when he saw the flop, and another said “and he almost fell out of it when he saw him shove!]
