Mike Gorodinsky opened to 20,000 on the button before Dylan Smith snap-shoved from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way, and Gorodinsky made the call.
Dylan Smith: A♣7♣
Mike Gorodinsky: J♣10♣
Despite having no flush outs, Gorodinsky took the lead on the flop, and held as the board ran out 3♦K♠J♦7♥8♣
Pavel Plesuv opened massive in the cutoff, to a size of 125,000, leaving himself slightly less than that behind. Andrew Lichtenberger called from the button, and the two went heads-up to a flop.
When the board came 4♣2♠2♦ the preflop aggressor checked his action, before Lictenberger put him all in. He tanked, and eventually made the call with his two overs.
Pavel Plesuv A♥10♣
Andrew Lichtenberger 7♥7♦
The 2♣ turn gave Plesuv an extra out, but he found a different one, as he boated up on the 10♣ river.
Tony Lin opened the action from the hijack with a raise to 25,000, and Joe Cada responded with a shove for 194,000 from the cutoff. Lin asked for a count and took a moment before deciding to call, sending the hand to a showdown.
Joe Cada: A♦K♦
Tony Lin: 2♥2♠
Lin was ahead preflop with his deuces, but the 9♠10♣A♣ flop quickly turned the tables in Cada’s favor. Hoping to find a deuce, Lin saw the 8♣ turn and 6♠ river fall safely for Cada, who secured a double-up.
Brock Wilson moved all in for his last 126,000 chips from under the gun, and Alex Foxen made the call from middle position, setting up a showdown.
Brock Wilson: K♠K♣
Alex Foxen: K♦10♦
Wilson was well ahead preflop, but the flop came Q♦8♦J♦, giving Foxen a flush and leaving Wilson in dire straits. "I told you, I had a feeling", Foxen commented.
The 6♣ turn confirmed his fate, and while the K♥ river brought the last king in the deck, it was too little, too late. Wilson was eliminated just two spots short of the money.
Andrew Lichtenberger was forced all in from the big blind. Michael Moncek raised to 25,000. He was met with a call from Ronald Campbell on the button. Pavel Plesuv then went all in from the small blind. Both players folded, with Campbell revealing 6♣6♥.
The players waited for tournament staff to come over to do the run out.
Andrew Lichtenberger: A♠2♠
Pavel Plesuv: Q♠10♠
The board came J♦9♣7♥A♣10♣ and Lichtenberger was able to survive.
Needing just one player to bust before making the money, Yosef Fox opened from middle position, opting for a sizing of 25,000. Two players looked him up: Shannon Shorr, who was next to act, and Zdenek Zizka on the button. On a seemingly inconspicuous 5♥8♠2♦ flop, first to act Fox sized up, this time betting 82,000 into the middle. Both of his opponents placed 82,000 of their own chips into the middle of what was becoming an absolutely monster pot.
The 9♥ peeled off on the turn, and this time Fox shoved, covering both players. Shorr pretended like he was thinking about his decision for a few moments before making the call. Zizka wisely folded.
Shannon Shorr 8♥8♦
Yosef Fox A♣A♦
Drawing slim, the J♣ river confirmed Shorr’s safety, in what was without a doubt one of the biggest pots of the tournament.
