Lou Garza sat on the button and raised to 240,000. The big blind, John Pannucci, called to the 3♠K♣3♥ flop, where he check-called Garza's bet of 125,000.
Both checked the 4♠ turn, but the J♠ river saw betting action again. Pannucci fired 195,000, and Garza called after some deliberation.
Pannucci tabled A♥J♦ for two pair. Garza took a final look at his cards as he tossed them into the muck and surrendered the pot.
Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 27th episode, Connor talks with World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and venture capitalist David Daneshgar, who used poker winnings to launch a successful start-up that raised tens of millions. The Californian with $2.5 million in Hendon Mob earnings talks about his companies BloomNation and Whippy AI, teaching a college poker class, quitting his finance job to play poker, and getting Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss to write his letter of recommendation to business school.
Daneshgar also spoke about getting cheated in private LA games, AI in poker, and why entrepreneurs should play in poker games.
Brandon Mitchell made it 200,000 to go from under the gun and Lou Garza three-bet to 550,000 in the cutoff. Mitchell called.
The flop came down 2♦Q♠10♠ and Mitchell check-called a bet of 400,000 from Garza to see the 9♦ drop on the turn, where both checked.
A 5♠ completed the board and Mitchell counted out chips before making a chunky bet of 1,420,000. Garza didn't need to think for too long before he folded, allowing Mitchell to take the pot.
Robert Cowen raised to 200,000 from under the gun and was re-raised by Lou Garza from the cutoff to 750,000. In the small blind, Gabriel Andrade went all-in for his 570,000 chip stack. Cowen made the call for 750,000.
The flop of A♠J♣5♥ was checked by Cowen, bet by Garza, and Cowen folded.
Gabriel Andrade: K♠K♦9♥7♦
Lou Garza: A♦K♥10♦6♠
Andrade could not improve on the 8♣5♣ runout, and was eliminated in 11th place for $84,470.
Gabriel Andrade only had around 725,000 in his stack when he potted it to 350,000 preflop from the cutoff. Brandon Mitchell was in the big blind and just called.
"WHAT!" shouted Andrade. "What are you trying to spike?" he asked.
The flop came 10♦A♠5♠ and after Mitchell checked, Andrade shoved for 375,000. Mitchell quickly folded.
Youness Barakat limped in from the cutoff. Chongxian Yang on the button and Ben Lamb in the small blind followed suit, but Michael Moncek raised to 500,000.
Only Barakat made the call to the 7♣8♦X♠ flop, where Moncek's remaining 270,000 chips flew in.
Michael Moncek: Q♠Q♣6♠2♣
Youness Barakat: A♣8♠5♥4♣
Moncek's queens remained best on the K♥J♦ runout, and "Texas Mike" doubled up to a stack of 18 big blinds.
