Gierse Busts Boivin

Level 2 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

With roughly 60,000 already in the middle on the board of Q6QA2, Thomas Boivin opted to jam for the remainder of his chips to put Marius Gierse to a decision.

Gierse was in the tank for a moment before announcing a call. Boivin showed 75 for a bluff. Gierse revealed A4 for top pair, scooping the pot and eliminating Boivin in the process.

Early Pressure from Jaffe

Level 2 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

In a single raised pot blind versus blind, the two players saw a flop of 46K. Sergey Lebedev checked to Jonathan Jaffe in the big blind, who put out a bet of 4,500. Action back on Lebedev, who chose to check-raise to 12,000, which Jaffe called.

On the 7 turn, Lebedev check-called a bet of 13,000 from Jaffe.

Lebedev checked for a third time on the 4 river and faced maximum pressure when Jaffe moved all in, covering Lebedev's effective stack of 67,000.

The pressure was evident as Lebedev used five of his six time bank cards that he was allocated at the start of the day, eventually folding and returning his cards to the dealer.

Blom Bets Flop and River

Level 2 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Barak Wisbrod raised it up from the cutoff and was called by Viktor Blom on the button and Yuya Kita in the big blind. The flop came 833 and the action checked to Blom who bet 8,000. Kita folded but Wisbrod called to see the 5 on the turn.

Both players checked this time and the J landed on the river. Wisbrod checked for the third time and Blom flicked in a bet of 32,000. Wisbrod mulled it over for a moment and then decided to lay his hand down.

Wilson Takes it Down

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/1,000, 1,000 ante

Dimitar Danchev raised under the gun, Toby Joyce and Brandon Wilson called from the small and big blind, respectively.

All three players checked the 10Q7 flop and moved on to the K turn.

Action checked to Danchev again, who elected to bet 5,500. Joyce folded, but Wilson opted to check-raise to 15,000, which Danchev called.

The river 8 didn't slow Wilson down as he bet out again, this time for 40,000. This got the job done as Danchev used one time bank before folding.

Davies Leading, Paur Out

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/1,000, 1,000 ante
Seth Davies
Seth Davies

Seth Davies built a healthy chip stack in the early going of the first level and that continued on the first hand after Jennifer Tilly arrived at the table. The two players were engaged in a three-bet pot with a little over 70,000 in the middle and the board reading 972J.

Davies led out with a bet of 40,000 and Tilly used one of her time banks before dumping her cards in the muck.

"Is this a rebuy tournament?" Tilly asked after losing a third of her stack already. (Yes, one reentry only!)

Davies showed AA as he collected the pot to hold an early chip lead over the rest of the field. On the other end of the spectrum, Taylor Paur was eliminated and the first casualty in this event.
