The action was picked up on the river with a board of 5♦10♣3♣2♥8♥, with the pot being about 42,000. Joonhee Yea was all in for 15,500 from the early position, and Edgar Antezana called from the big blind with the shorter stack.
Scott Heiligman raised to 4,000 in the cutoff and found a call from Ali Shahni in the big blind. Shahni checked the 9♥4♠K♦ flop, making the call after Heiligman continued for 3,500.
The 4♥ turn brought a pair of checks, with the dealer revealing the 9♠ river.
Shahni took some time before sliding out a bet of 20,000. Heiligman did not take long to fold, and the pot was shipped to Shahni.
Three ways to the flop scrolled across K♣7♠4♣. Scott Heiligman checked and Martin Zamani bet 3,500. Patricio Jimenez folded and Heiligman called.
The turn brought the 6♣ and Heiligman tapped the table. Zamani continued for 5,000 and Heiligman didn't waste much time check-raising all in for 21,000. Zamani snap-folded and said, "No more bluffing..."
The Very Next Hand:
Martin Zamani raised to 3,000 in early position and Adam Friedman raised again to 11,000. Zamani flicked in the call.
The dealer presented the Q♥8♣5♠. Zamani check-called a bet of 3,500 from Friedman.
The turn peeled the 5♥ and Zamani took the initiative, leading for 3,500 — the same sizing he had called the street before. Friedman called.
The river completed with the 6♣ and both players checked.
Zamani tabled A♣10♣ and Friedman quickly showed A♥K♦ to claim the pot with a better ace high.
"No more bluffs I said... I'm such a fish."
Friedman neither agreed or disagreed with Friedman as he collected the pot.
One of the biggest coolers we'll see at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) took place in the biggest buy-in event so far this summer.
Aces versus kings is always a brutal set-up, but a set-over-set involving those two premium holdings is as painful as it gets. But that's exactly what happened near the money bubble on Day 2 of Event #32: $50,000 High Roller.
PokerNews' Calum Grant captured the hand between Ben Tollerene and Joey Weissman, which took place at the end of Level 13 with blinds of 15,000/30,000/30,000 and 34 players remaining with 26 spots paid.
Three ways all in preflop, Aaron La had the covering stack, followed by Christopher Waleski, then Kuanhan Lee.
Kuanhan Lee: K♥K♠
Christopher Waleski: A♥A♣
Aaron La: Q♥Q♦
Quite the cooler, the board ran out 4♠3♣8♠9♠ which had Lee rooting for a spade but it came down the J♦ and he was sent on his way while La was left with a fraction of the chips he once had. Waleski stoically collected the pot and started his accounting.
Egor Procop opened in middle position and Edgar Antezana made the call in the hijack. Niall Farrell then three-bet to 8,000 in the cutoff, with Procop folding and Antezana making the call.
Antezana checked the 10♦4♥8♣ flop and Farrell continued for 8,000. That was enough to secure the pot, as Antezana slid his cards into the muck.
