An Orbit with Alan Keating

Level 7 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Alan Keating
Alan Keating

Alan Keating took his seat the WSOP $100,000 High Roller as the dinner break ended, and PokerNews tracked an orbit of his hands.

Hand 1

Leon Sturm opened to 20,000 from under the gun and Alan Keating defended his big blind. Keating checked as the flop came down KJ4. Sturm bet 25,000 and Keating called. The Q turn checked through to the A river and Keating led out for 60,000. Sturm folded.

"Oh thank god," Keating said as he tabled 88 although he admitted he could've been bluffing with the better hand.

Hand 2

Emilien Pitavy raised from under the gun and folded out the table.

Hand 3

Ramiro Salinas raised to 20,000 from the cutoff. Keating folded his button before Sturm and Seth Davies called from the blinds. Salinas continued for 24,000 on the 1095 flop, which folded out Sturm. Davies raised to 65,000 and Salinas quickly released his hand.

Hand 4

The action folded to Keating in the cutoff and he followed suit in returning his cards to the dealer. Sturm raised to 23,000 from the button. Davies and Pitavy called from the blinds. The action checked through to the river for the board to read J6253. Davies checked and Pitavy bet 30,000, which was enough to take the pot down.

Hand 5

Keating opened to 20,000 from the hijack and Taylor von Kriegenbergh called from the big blind. Von Kriegenbergh check-called for 15,000 on the A66 flop before the 10 turn checked through to the Q river. Von Kriegenbergh fired out 25,000 and Keating quickly folded.

Hand 6

Keating folded under the gun, with Sturm raising to 20,000 from the next seat over. Salinas came along from the big blind but folded to a bet on the J22 flop.

Hand 7

Sturm raised to 20,000 from under the gun. The play folded to Von Kriegenbergh, who asked Sturm how many blue T-100,000 chips he had. Once confirmed it was three, he three-bet to 75,000. Salinas and Keating folded in the blinds, and Sturm did the same.

"Most obvious bluff of all time," commented Keating.

"You play with me more than these guys," replied Von Kriegenbergh.

As the hand finished, defending champion Chris Hunichen joined the table.

Foxen KOs Mateos

Level 5 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

The four-way action was picked up on the flop of 973 where Barak Wisbrod and Vinny Lingham checked from the small and big blind, Alex Foxen bet 15,000 into a pot of roughly 60,000 from early position, and Adrian Mateos raised to 55,000 sitting on the button. Both of the blinds folded and Foxen made the call.

The turn came the 2 and Foxen check-called the 126,000 chip bet from Mateos.

On the 8 river, Foxen checked once again, and Mateos slid his remaining 333,000 chips into the middle. Foxen made the call after some deliberation. Mateos rolled KQ over for king-high, while Foxen showed a pair of nines with K9.

Oganyan Caught in the Crossfire

Level 4 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jesse Lonis
Jesse Lonis

Aram Oganyan found a triple-up to 45,000 in the previous hand, after an encounter before that had left him with just three big blinds.

In this hand, Gregory Jenson raised to 11,000 in early position, which both Mikita Badziakouski and Jesse Lonis called. Action was then on Oganyan in the big blind, who moved all in for 45,000. Jensen then four-bet to 100,000, which got rid of Badziakouski, however, Lonis called for a second time.

Out of position to Lonis, Jensen continued for a bet of 130,000, and Lonis called on a flop of J69.

When the turn came, the 6, Jensen slowed down, checking to Lonis, whose bet of 90,000 was enough to see Jensen muck his hand.

Aram Oganyan: AK All in
Jesse Lonis: 88

Oganyan needed an ace or king river to survive, but the 8 gave Lonis a full house and sent Oganyan to the exit.

Theologis Runs into the Nuts Twice

Level 4 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Alexandros Theologis
Alexandros Theologis

David Peters raised from under the gun, picking up calls from Alexandros Theologis and Matthew Belcher from the next two seats. Nacho Barbero and Fahredin Mustafov called from the button and big blind respectively.

The 842 flop checked through to the J turn, where Peters bet 16,000 into a pot of 63,000. Theologis was the only caller.

The 7 completed the board and Peters checked. Theologis bet 75,000, and was then put at risk for most of his stack as Peters jammed for 525,000. Theologis thought it over, eventually declaring a call.

Peters tabled 109 for the nut straight. Theologis had 65 for the second nuts and was reduced to his last 50,000.

Shortly after, Belcher opened from under the gun, and Theologis defended his big blind.

Theologis put in his last six big blinds on the 10x9x8x rainbow flop, and was snapped.

Theologis had Ax9x but ran into Belcher's QxJx which flopped the nuts. The board bricked out and Theologis departed for the second and final time.

Oganyan Sends It

Level 4 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Aram Oganyan
Aram Oganyan

Joining the hand with roughly 230,000 in the middle and a full board showing 8105QQ, Aram Oganyan and Sean Winter were locked in battle.

Oganyan was the first to act, and he put Winter deep into the tank with a bet of 411,000, leaving himself just 15,000 behind.

"This is never a fold, but you are just never bluffing here", Winter said.

"I beat value though", he said, before flicking in a chip to call.

Oganyan turned over the 76 for a failed bluff. Winter showed AQ, as he scooped in a bit pot and left Oganyan with just three big blinds.

Lee and Kisacikoglu Lock Horns in Big Pot

Level 4 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

Chang Lee raised from the button and Orpen Kisacikoglu defended his big blind, and then check-called Lee's 9,000 continuation bet on the K9J flop.

The turn brought in the Q, which put four to a straight on the board. Kisacikoglu checked. Lee sized up to 110,000, forcing Kisacikoglu to mull over his options. The bracelet winner settled on a call.

The Q river then paired the board, prompting a third check from Kisacikoglu, who had around 420,000 behind. Lee continued with his aggression, counting out 375,000. He slid those chips into the middle.

Kisacikoglu used up a time bank, and called.

"Jack," said Lee who appeared a bit unwilling to table his hand. However he did eventually show his J8.

Kisacikoglu tabled K10 for a straight and moved above 1,000,000 chips.

Belcher Makes Trips to Bust Theologis

Level 4 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Matt Belcher
Matt Belcher

Alexandros Theologis was just seen exiting the tournament area, with Matthew Belcher collecting his stack.

Belcher recalled the action to PokerNews.

Mathias Eibinger opened to 9,000 with Theologis calling on the button. Belcher squeezed to 50,000 from the small blind which pushed out Eibinger. Theologis then jammed for 315,000 and Belcher called.

Theologis had AxKx while Belcher had AxQx (suited).

Belcher paired up on the Qx10x4x flop to move in front. His lead was relinquished after a Kx turn, but the Qx river gave Belcher the checkmark for the pot and elimination.

While Theologis exited, Andy Wilson and Sean Winter registered for the event.
