Actress Jennifer Tilly Tried to Stop Sam Simon from Co-Creating 'The Simpsons'

The Simpsons is widely regarded as one of the most successful and beloved television shows of all time. But actress and high-stakes poker player Jennifer Tilly, who was married to Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon, tried to stop her ex-husband from making the iconic show.

Tilly, the star of the Chucky franchise and a recent guest on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, revealed her skepticism about Simon pursuing the cartoon in a new episode of the PokerNews Life Outside Poker podcast.

"I remember us trying to keep Sam from doing it because he had been offered his own deal, multi-million-dollar deal, at Hollywood Pictures, which was at the time very trendy," Tilly told PokerNews. "And I said, 'Sam, don't you want to be your own person and do your own shows?'"

With two players seeing a board of 3♣A♠4♣K♦ and 36,000 in the middle, Jonathan Wolter checked from the big blind and Shiva Dudani bet 6,500 from under the gun. Wolter called.

Dudani bet 21,000 when checked to on the 6♥ river, leaving around 6,000 behind. Wolter folded and Dudani won the pot without showdown.

Suvarna flopped the goods on a 4♠10♦8♠ flop, needing only to dodge a king in order to stay alive in the tournament. The J♠2♥ runout sent the chips in his direction, as he picked up a much-needed double before dinner break.

Scott Allacher raised from the cutoff to 4,000, and Adam Kharman called from the big blind. The flop was monotone with 6♠3♠8♠, and Adam Kharman checked, and Scott Allacher bet out 5,000. Kharman pondered for a moment and moved all of his chips in for 26,000.
Now it was Allacher's turn to ponder, and he made the call.

When Allacher saw Kharman's cards, he announced, "Shoot, I thought you were on a flush draw".

Scott Allacher: 10♥6♥

Kharman was ahead with a pair of eights, but the turn 9♣ and the river 7♠ brought a straight to Allacher.

On a ten-high flop of 9♦5♦10♣ Schindler needed a king to eliminate Ripper.

The turn came a 2♠ leaving Schindler behind looking for paint on the river.

A river of 4♥ sent the chips in Ripper's direction while Schindler was left short-stacked and was eliminated from the tournament shortly after.

Hirose fired out a bet of 5,000 when the flop came 10♣8♦6♥, Hak called. Action then checked to showdown when the board ran out J♥ on the turn and the 3♠ on the river.

Hak tabled A♣K♠ but Hirose tabled Q♦10♦, and took this pot.

Action was picked up on the turn with a board run out of J♣2♥6♣6♠, and John Ypma was all in from the small blind for 11,000 into a pot of 4,000. Bradley Gafford, who was in the cutoff, and Ryan Brown, who was on the button, were battling it out for the side pot. Gafford bet out 15,000, and Brown raised to 79,000, and Gafford called.

Ryan Brown: K♦Q♦

Ypma held trips, Brown held nada, and Gafford held a full house. The river 3♥ brought Ypma a lower full house, but this did not save him as Gafford pulled in a decent pot.

A board of 9♦4♠A♣ Ordet checked, Shylko bet 2,500 and Ordet called.

The turn brought a 4♦, Ordet checked again. Shylko bet 6,500, after a couple minutes Ordet made the call.

As the J♥ hit the river, Ordet checked a third time to Shylko, who elected to bet 37,000. After a long tank, Ordet made the call and Shylko showed A♥Q♥. Ordet mucked his cards.
