2025 World Series of Poker
With two players seeing a final board of J♦Q♣10♦8♥4♥ and around 20,000 in the middle, Thi Ngo checked from the hijack and Wenbin Chen shoved from the cutoff, covering Ngo who had 24,300 behind. Ngo called.
Chen could only show K♠10♠ for a pair of tens, missed straight draw and blocker to the nut straight. Ngo turned over the second-nut straight with K♦9♦ to secure a full double up through Chen.
Action was picked up with cards on their backs in a pot between Shotaro Kobayashi in the hijack and Jeffrey Gagnon in the cutoff who was all in for his last 34,500.
Jeffrey Gagnon: A♥K♠
Shotaro Kobayashi: K♣K♦
The board ran out Q♣4♦8♠4♠J♦ and the kings held up for Kobayashi to eliminate Gagnon from the tournament.
Samantha Abernathy raised under the gun to 800, Rodrigo Zouvi called in the small blind and William Haggerty called in the big blind.
Abernathy fired out a bet of 800 when the flop came K♦8♣10♥, Zouvi folded and Haggerty made the call.
Abernathy fired a second barrel of 3,300 on the A♠ turn, prompting a quick fold from Haggerty.
Gabriel Kiflu opened to 700 from the hijack and faced Jianwei Lin who defended from the big blind.
Both of them checked a flop of 4♠7♠K♦ leading to the 9♥ turn where Lin led out for 900. Kiflu made the call.
Lin bet 1,300 on the 2♦ river. Kiflu stood up to have a better look at the board, and raised to 2,600. Lin went into the tank and called with A♦4♣ to see Kiflu's hand. He only had A♣2♥.
Erick Lindgren raised in early position to 700, and only Richard Spencer called, defending his big blind.
Spencer checked in flow on the 9♣9♠6♠ flop, calling Lindgren's continuation-bet of 700.
There was no slowing down from Lindgren on the 7♦ turn, upping the ante with a wager of 2,000. Again, Spencer called.
The dealer flipped the river 8♣ and Spencer checked for a third time. Lindgren still wasn't content with the size of the pot, placing a more substantial bet of 8,000. Spencer wasn't as quick with his decision on this street, but did end up flicking in a chip to signify a call.
It was bad news for Spencer, though, as Lindgren rolled over 6♥6♦ for a flopped full house. Spencer mucked his cards face down, and the dealer pushed the pot in the direction of Lindgren.
Daniel Tafur made it 800 to go from under the gun with Paul Newey calling from the hijack, and Robert Tencza defending his big blind.
Tencza checked the 8♠Q♦K♥ flop, and Tafur put out a continuation-bet of 1,500. Newey called, but Tencza folded.
Heads-up now to the 5♦ turn, where Tafur fired again, this time for 2,000. Once again, Newey called.
The A♣ river prompted Tafur to slow down and check. Newey fired 5,800, which was enough to get a fold from Tafur.
Iago Sturzeneker was in middle position and heads-up against Matthew Waterfall who was under the gun, with roughly 12,000 in the middle and the board reading 10♠3♦3♣4♥A♠. Waterfall checked, Sturzeneker bet 10,500 and Waterfall snap-called.
Sturzeneker showed top pair with A♣Q♣. Waterfall revealed his hand, showing K♥K♠ before conceding the pot to Sturzeneker.
Action was picked up on the turn in a pot betwen Brendan Shiller in the big blind and Taylor Wilson in the cutoff with 7,800 in the middle.
The board read 2♥J♥J♣6♣ and Shiller bet 4,200 to see Wilson call.
On the river 4♦, Shiller bet 5,900 and Wilson opted to raise to 15,500. Shiller wasted little time in calling the bet.
"Good call," said Wilson and Shiller tabled Q♦Q♥ for queens up which was good for Shiller to take down the pot.
Three ways on a flop of Q♣J♠9♥ with over 7,000 already in the middle, Justin Allen checked from under the gun and Lawrence Brandt checked from directly behind. Philip Sternheimer bet 3,600 from the hijack, which got a call from Allen and a fold from Brandt.
Both players checked after the K♦ turn and 3♦ river and Allen tabled A♥K♠ for a pair of kings.
Sternheimer revealed 9♣9♦ for a set of nines and added to his stack.
