Petrone up Big After Large Three-way Pot

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Alexander Sokolovsky raised to 500 from the cutoff and was called by Ramiro Petrone on the button. David Collins squeezed to 2,000 from the small blind, which got a call from Sokolovsky, but a back-raise to 8,500 from Petrone. Both Collins and Sokolovsky called.

Everyone checked on the A54 flop and it was checked to Petrone, who bet 4,000 on the J turn. Collins called and Sokolovsky folded.

The 5 completed the board and Collins checked a final time, prompting a 19,000 bet from Petrone.

"I'm not gonna go broke with queens, I fold," Collins said as he folded face up.

Petrone collected the pot without showing in turn.

The Ultimate Bad Beat Story?

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Paul Vulpis
Paul Vulpis

Paul Vulpis raised to 500 from the cutoff, and both Tam Ho and Zack Marshak made the call from the small and big blind.

The dealer revealed the 758 flop, and things were about to escalate quickly.

Ho and Marshak both started with a check, and Vulpis continued with a bet of 2,000. Ho called before Marshak opted to put in a check-raise to 7,000. Vulpis made the call before Ho responded with a three-bet back-raise all in for roughly 60,000.

Marshak took some time to consider but ultimately chose to fold. Action was then back on Vulpis, who made the call.

A serious three-way cooler as the players revealed their hands.

Tam Ho: 88 All in
Paul Vulpis: 77

Before any further action took place, Marshak showed the table that he had flopped a straight with six-four, which he had subsequently folded.

The deck hadn't finished dishing out the drama, though, as the dealer flipped over the 7 turn, improving Vulpis to four-of-a-kind.

There was no one-out miracle for Ho, as the river came the 3, requiring him to leave his seat in the Main Event with nothing but a bad beat story to tell.

Tens Up For Hajikypri

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Zach Hajikypri called in the cutoff while Elvis Reyes raised on the button to 500 and both Brent Barby in the big blind and Hajikypri called.

The flop rolled out K910 and Barby checked over to Hajikypri who bet 1,300 and only Barby called.

Barby led out for 2,200 on the turn 6 and Hajikypri called while both players checked the river A.

"Two pair," said Hajikypri as he tabled 109 for tens and nines, which was good against Barby who turned over Q6 for a pair of sixes.

Mase Shoves First Hand

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Mikki Mase and Ismael Grijalva arrived on the 910Q33 river when Mase shoved all his chips in the middle. The pot amounted to 20,900, and Grijalva was put at risk for his 34,800 remaining chips.

"Really, first hand, Mikki?" Grijalva asked his opponent. "This is the worst river when I flopped the nuts, he continued.

He then showed Mase KJ, which got him a stern warning from the floor, as that is against the rules.

"Nice bluff," Grijalva eventually said as he folded his hand. Mase showed QQ for a rivered full house.

"Is bluffing even allowed in this game?" he asked as he dragged in the chips.

Here's What Tax Experts Want Poker Players to Know About Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill'

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Poker Tax Bill
Poker Tax Bill

Gambling tax experts are warning poker players to be aware of legislation that "could have a major effect on the industry" after Congress passed the Trump administration’s Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA) that, among other things, caps gambling loss deductions at 90% of winnings.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill with a 218-214 vote on Thursday after delaying a vote for several hours the previous night.

“It will negatively affect the recreational player," Ray Kondler of Kondler CPA, a Las Vegas-based CPA firm specializing in gambling taxation, told PokerNewsKeith Becker. "Because in the past, where you could deduct 100% of your losses, now you can deduct 90%. So basically you’re paying income tax on phantom income you might not have ever have made.”
