Jha Personally Keeping Kornuth Alive

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Heads-up on a flop of 974, Chance Kornuth bet 1,500 from the cutoff and Mrityunjay Jha called in the big blind.

The turn was the Q and Jha led out for 4,500. Kornuth called to see the 7 river, where Jha bet another 6,500, representing most of Kornuth's remaining stack.

Kornuth stopped to take a sip of his tea before calling as Jha showed 108 for a missed straight draw. Kornuth turned over A9 for two pair to win the pot.

"Chance, if you win this tournament, you owe him at least 10 percent," a tablemate said.

"He'll make the Christmas list for sure," Kornuth replied.

"I've doubled him up three times already," Jha added.

"And I still have half of a starting stack," Kornuth said.

Nobles Nullified as Maloney Calls With Baloney

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

After Cliff Maloney had made it about 8,000 preflop in the cutoff, Robert Nobles slammed in his stack of 42,800 from the button. Maloney made a quick call, covering his opponent by 5,000 or so.

Robert Nobles: KK All in
Cliff Maloney: 97

Nobles flopped top set on K46, but the 2 turn made Maloney a flush for a big lead. The 8 river did not pair the board, setting Nobles' elimination in stone.

Maloney, meanwhile, slammed the table in celebration as the large pot elevated his stack to nearly six figures.

Primerano Gives to Richter; Noble Takes from Tran

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Barret Noble opened to 1,200 from late position and Linus Richter called from the hijack. Raymond Dandrea also called from the cutoff and Daniele Primerano defended the big blind.

The 4J7 flop was checked by all to the K turn.

All checked again to see the 8 river and Primerano bet 3,600. Only Richter called. Primerano showed 45 but Richter took the pot with the pair of eights holding 87.

In the next hand on the same table Sandy Tran opened to 1,000 from under the gun and Joey Weissman called on the button. Both Primerano and Noble called from the small and big blind respectively.

The 2K2 flop saw the blinds check and Tran bet 2,000, with only Noble making the call.

The 4 was turned and checked down to the 6 river.

Noble bet 1,700 and Tran mucked.

Doug Polk

Four players — Gabriel Gutierrez, Andrea Salamone, Vladimir Nex and Doug Polk — were in for 4,200 thanks to a preflop three-bet.

The flop hit 5Q8. Gutierrez checked in the big blind, and so did Salamone under the gun. Nex bet 4,100 from middle position. Polk called from the button.

The turn brought the 10. Nex checked and Polk went all in.

It didn't take Nex long to let go of his hand.

Later, Polk said he didn't realize the pot was three-bet preflop.

"We brought our A-game today," he joked.

Two Barrells Takes It

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The action was joined as Keanon Simon and Justin Goldman were dealt a flop of 1053 in a three-bet pot.

Simon checked to Goldman, the preflop aggressor, who placed a bet of 3,500, which Simon called.

The turn brought the A, and when checked to him again, Goldman continued the aggression. This time his bet of 5,000 would do the trick, as Simon slid his cards back to the dealer.
