2025 World Series of Poker
Mike Matusow raised to 5,000 in early position and picked up calls from Scott Eskenazi in middle position and big blind Nicolas Tartaglia.
Matusow continued for 6,000 on the 8♣8♠5♥ flop and only Eskenazi called. The turn was the J♣ and Matusow checked to Eskenazi, who bet 8,000.
Matusow called to the 7♥ river, where Eskenazi bet another 15,500. Matusow took a few minutes but eventually folded.
Thomas Eychenne is at this same table with a stack of around 600,000.
Action was picked up with big blind Jean Kleemann all-in for 70,000 on a flop of 2♣5♦4♥ with a pot of 137,500. Action was with Masato Yokosawa , in cutoff and his heads-up opponent, who ultimately made the call.
Jean Kleemann: 5♥4♣
Masato Yokosawa: 2♠2♦
Kleeman had top two pair while Yokosawa was ahead with bottom set. The runout 8♠6♣ didn't help Kleeman. Yokosawa scooped a monster pot as Kleeman bid his table good luck.
The action was picked up on the 6♥10♥10♦7♦ turn, where Thomas Eychenne fired a bet of 30,000 from the cutoff. Mike Matusow called in the hijack, after which Eychenne moved all in on the 3♠ river, covering the 103,000 of Matusow.
Matusow gave it some thought, but he ultimately chose to fold his hand and battle on with his remaining chips.
Andrew Tran was all in and at risk for a short stack against one of the large stacks in the field as he was looked up by Sam Rayburn.
Andrew Tran: K♦K♣
Sam Rayburn: A♦7♠
The 8♠5♥4♦6♥ turn sent Tran on the verge of elimination but he chopped thanks to the 7♥ on the river. Prior to that card, Rayburn had called for the seven to chop and another player told him "you didn't mean it?!" Rayburn, however, nodded while Tran had a deep sigh.
Phil Hellmuth raised to 6,000 from the hijack and was called by Santiago Montes in the big blind.
Both players checked on the K♦10♠K♣ flop and then Hellmuth called a 4,000 bet from Montes on the 3♣ turn.
The Q♠ completed the board and Montes checked to Hellmuth, who announced a bet of 14,000.
Montes went deep into the tank and then flashed Ax10x before sending his hand into the muck.
"Show me the bluff," Montes told Hellmuth.
Hellmuth tabled A♣J♣ for Broadway.
"I bet too much!" Hellmuth lamented. "Eight thousand..."
With the day's play nearing its close, there are a good few big stacks starting to emerge in the 500,000 and over range.
