Last Break of the Night

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Main Event Bracelet 2025
Main Event Bracelet 2025

Another level has come and gone on Day 2d and the remaining 2,591 players are going on their last 20-minute break of the night. There will be one more level before the players bag and tag their chips for the night. Here are some highlights from the last two hours:

Umerova Pushes Moorman Out

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Safiya Umerova raised to 3,000 from middle position. John Racener called from the button.

Chris Moorman three-bet to 14,000. Umerova called.

The flop hit J4J and Moorman continued with a 10,000-chip bet. Again, Umerova called.

The players checked the 3 on the turn, but Moorman tossed a green 25,000 chip at the pot when the A landed on the river. Umerova threw her chip even farther, past the pot entirely, to make the call.

As it landed, Moorman threw his cards into the muck. Umerova didn't have to show to take down the pot.

Debs Survives Against Ma

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Xiaoyao Ma raised to 3,000 and David Williams called with the A7. Michael Debs then three-bet to 14,000 in the big blind and both opponents came along to the Q103 on the flop. Debs jammed his last 21,500 and Ma called, Williams folded.

Michael Debs: KK All in
Xiaoyao Ma: Q8

The 5 turn and 4 river changed nothing whatsoever and Debs more than doubled.

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Katherine Porrello raised to 3,500 from middle position and found calls from Leonardo Desouza in the small blind and David Kuder in the big blind.

The flop came 367 and it was checked to Porrello who continued for 6,000. Desouza folded and Kuder called. Both players checked the 6 turn and the Q river.

Porrello tabled 99 and Kuder mucked his cards to send Porrello the pot.

Lam Will Be in Polk's Thoughts Today

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Thanh “Jimmy” Lam opened to 11,500 on the button. Seated immediately to his left and in the small blind was Doug Polk who jammed all in for around 32,000, saying, "I'm all-in Jimmy. We'll dance into the night."

When action came back to him, Lam looked at the ceiling and said, "What a bad time to bluff," but asked for a count. Polk was stating he finally caught him.

Lam went "Pull it in," which was music to Polk's ears, stating it was the best three universal words in poker. After the chips were pulled in after his bet, he calculated his risk-reward ratio and said, "20 to win 70" and immediately called, putting Polk's tournament life at risk and taking them to showdown.

Doug Polk: KKAll in
Thanh Lam: K3

The board ran 43QJ4. Polk's kings held. Polk doubled through Lam, saying that his second thought today would be Jimmy, without whom he wouldn't find himself in this great spot today.

Turn Three-Bet Fails Hickey

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Heads-up to the 10632 turn, Thomas Ward checked from the big blind to Jason Hickey in the hijack. Hickey bet 4,500, which Ward raised to 16,000. Hickey clicked it back to 29,000, and Ward called.

The 3 river was checked by both players. Ward turned over 106, and his tens and sixes were good enough to rake in the pot.

Shin Rivers the Nuts; Cullis Busts

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Three players were looking at a board of 58A10. Byungeun Shin checked from early position, Payam Ataie checked from the hijack, but Jeffrey Cullis bet 11,500 from the button. Shin called while Ataie folded.

When the K appeared on the river, Shin led out for 18,000. Cullis only had around 25,000 remaining in his stack, and after doing a bit of inventory, he reluctantly called.

Shin revealed the nuts with A6 to win the pot. Cullis was eliminated a few hands later and is no longer a participant in the Main Event.

A Mann with a Plan

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Following an open, Jason Mann three-bet to 10,500 on the button. Then, in the small blind, Mikolaj Zawadzki jammed for 104,500. The action folded back to Mann who confirmed the count and pondered his decision for over a minute before he cut out the chips to call and put them into the middle.

Mikolaj Zawadzki: KK All in
Jason Mann: AK

It was a cooler scenario between two premium hands as the A108 flop valued Mann into the lead as he spiked his ace. Zawadzki failed to hit the one-outer on the 7Q runout as he was sent to the rail in brutal fashion and Mann collected a massive pot.
