Ace on the Flop Kills the Action

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Loni Hui opened to 3,500 from under the gun and picked up a caller along the way. Romain Locquet three-bet to 21,000 from the small blind and only Hui called.

The flop came A66 and both players checked to the 5 on the turn and the 9 on the river. Locquet checked for the third time and Hui quickly knuckled it back. Locquet tabled KQ but Hui turned over JJ to scoop the pot.

Duffy in Decline

Ciaran Duffy opened the action with a raise on the button to 3,000. Only Jerry Wong made the call, defending his big blind.

The dealer burned and turned three, revealing a QJQ flop. Wong started with a check, but when Duffy continued for 2,000, Wong check-raised to 5,000. Duffy called, and the two took a turn.

Wong checked for a second time on the 10 turn, which saw Duffy place a bet of 8,500. Wong, though, executed the double check-raise, moving all in covering his opponent.

A frustrated Duffy folded his hand, showing he had the A in the process.

Higgins Gains from Garcia

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Pablo Garcia opened to 3,000 from middle position and Matthew Higgins called from the hijack. Both Luis Carmona and Abbas Moradi also called from the button and big blind, respectively.

The JJ2 flop was checked to Higgins who bet 6,000 and only Garcia called.

The 4 was turned and Garcia check-called a 11,000 bet from Higgins.

Garcia check-called a 6,500 bet from Higgins on the 9 river.

Higgins showed AJ having flopped trips. Garcia mucked his hand and passed the pot to Higgins.

Praud Runs Into Aces

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Daniel Hirose raised to 5,000 under the gun. Nicolas Praud, seated to his immediate left, shoved all in.

Bruno Fuentes called from the small blind.

Hirose and Fuentes checked the flop of QJ7. When the 5 hit on the turn, Fuentes bet 20,000.

Hirose quickly folded, leaving Praud and Fuentes heads-up going to the river.

Achimas Saved by the River

Petru Achimas jammed his short stack of 23,000 and Srikanth Koneru isolated by reshoving on the button.

The Q62 flop failed to connect either player as did the 5 turn. However, Achimas was saved by the K on the river to survive.

Mounir Tajiou raised to 3,000 in middle position. Adam Cader sat in the next seat and made it 10,000 to go, after which Jason Zipfel four-bet to 20,000. Tajiou let his hand go, but Cader moved all in for 48,000.

Zipfel made a quick call, and the cards were tabled.

The 5758 board had the table rooting for a chop, but the river fell the 5, securing the win for Cader's Big Slick and doubling him up.

Zipfel, meanwhile, had lost about two-thirds of his former big stack since the start of Level 9, most of which seemed to have ended up in Daniel Martin's possession.

Emmett Takes From Bazeley

Jake Bazeley raised to 3,500 on the button and Randall Emmett called in the big blind.

The flop rolled out 483 and Emmett check-called a bet of 5,000 from Bazeley.

Both players checked the turn 10 to the river 10 where Emmett led out for 7,500 and Bazeley thought for some time before folding.

"I debated calling with ace-high again," said Bazeley after the hand.

"I was praying you would," replied Emmett.

Battistone Takes Out Schneible

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Gianluca Cabitza raised to 5,000 from the cutoff. Jordan Schneible moved all in from the button and Brian Battistone called in middle position.

Cabitza and Battistone checked down to through the river on a runout of 72K910.

Cabitza flashed AxQx. Schneible had a pair 88, but Battistone with KJ, hit a pair of kings on the flop and it held for the knockout.

Zhang Welcomes Kim to the Table

Sean Perry raised to 3,500 with the J7 and Zilong Zhang three-bet to 11,000 with the AJ in the hijack, Robert Kim flat-called in the big blind and Perry folded. Both players checked the J102 flop to the 5 turn on which Kim bet 12,500. Zhang raised to 42,000 and Kim folded.
