Ace on the Flop Kills the Action

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Loni Hui opened to 3,500 from under the gun and picked up a caller along the way. Romain Locquet three-bet to 21,000 from the small blind and only Hui called.

The flop came A66 and both players checked to the 5 on the turn and the 9 on the river. Locquet checked for the third time and Hui quickly knuckled it back. Locquet tabled KQ but Hui turned over JJ to scoop the pot.

Ciaran Duffy
Ciaran Duffy

Ciaran Duffy opened the action with a raise on the button to 3,000. Only Jerry Wong made the call, defending his big blind.

The dealer burned and turned three, revealing a QJQ flop. Wong started with a check, but when Duffy continued for 2,000, Wong check-raised to 5,000. Duffy called, and the two took a turn.

Wong checked for a second time on the 10 turn, which saw Duffy place a bet of 8,500. Wong, though, executed the double check-raise, moving all in covering his opponent.

A frustrated Duffy folded his hand, showing he had the A in the process.

Jason Zipfel

Mounir Tajiou raised to 3,000 in middle position. Adam Cader sat in the next seat and made it 10,000 to go, after which Jason Zipfel four-bet to 20,000. Tajiou let his hand go, but Cader moved all in for 48,000.

Zipfel made a quick call, and the cards were tabled.

Jason Zipfel: AQ

The 5758 board had the table rooting for a chop, but the river fell the 5, securing the win for Cader's Big Slick and doubling him up.

Zipfel, meanwhile, had lost about two-thirds of his former big stack since the start of Level 9, most of which seemed to have ended up in Daniel Martin's possession.
