Fernandez' Two Pair No Good

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action was multiway with roughly 20,000 in the middle and the incomplete board showing 548.

When the action checked to Luis Fernandez on the button, he elected to move all in for 14,000. Both the small blind and Gregory Katayama in the cutoff called.

The dealer then provided the A turn, which both active players checked.

Katayama placed a bet of 27,000 on the J river, but swiftly pulled it back when the small blind player folded.

When Katayama turned his cards over, revealing AJ, Fernandez sat back in his chair and laughed. He then showed that he had been rivered, turning over A5 for a worse two pair.

Cooler Flop Sees Zarnoch Take Out McCurdy

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Yingge Yan opened from early position and was called by Heitor Saraiva in the hijack, Maxwell McCurdy in the small blind, and Corey Zarnoch in the big blind.

On the 652 flop, the action checked all the way to Saraiva who put out a bet before McCurdy check-raised to 35,000. In the big blind, Zarnoch would jam all-in. It folded back to McCurdy who snap-called for his remaining 74,000 total.

Maxwell McCurdy: 55 All in
Corey Zarnoch: 43

It was a cooler scenario as McCurdy flopped middle set but was behind the flopped straight of Zarnoch. The board ran out 109 as McCurdy could not find his needed board pair, and was sent to the exit in brutal fashion.

Ciltan Falls To Gabriel

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Dan-Florin Ciltan raised all in from the cutoff for 39,000 and Thomas Gabriel called on the button.

Dan-Florin Ciltan: 99 All in
Thomas Gabriel: AA

The board ran out J4J3J and the jacks full of aces was good for the pot to eliminate Ciltan from the tournament.

Deviren Doubles

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

With around 18,000 already in the pot, the flop came 1095 and action quickly escalated. Itay Katz led out from the big blind with a bet of 15,000, only for Vedat Deviren in early position to raise it up to 40,000, leaving himself just 9,000 behind.

Katz went deep into the tank before deciding to shove, and Deviren snap-called to put himself at risk.

Vedat Deviren: A10All in
Itay Katz: K10

Both players had top pair, but Deviren’s ace kicker had him in the lead. The A on the turn improved his hand to two pair, and the Q river changed nothing, locking up the double-up for Deviren.

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The turn showed 7636 and Katie Lindsay bet 16,000 for Daniel Lazrus to call. Both then checked the 8 on the river and Lindsay tabled the AQ. Lazrus checked his cards again and then tossed them into the muck, exclaiming "ace ten of clubs".

Zulker Takes from Hellmuth

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Phil Hellmuth limped in from middle position, Michael Zulker limped behind from the small blind and Michael Garner checked from the big blind.

All three players checked the 636 flop leading to the 10 turn. Action checked around to Hellmuth who bet 8,000. Zulker called while Garner folded J8.

Both players checked the 6 river. Hellmuth had king-high with KJ while Zulker had Q10 for sixes full of tens to take the pot.

Lee Goes Rabut Hunting

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action was joined with roughly 17,000 chips in the middle with Min-Sung Lee and Eric Rabut competing for it.

A flop of 466 had already been dealt, and Rabut had checked from the small blind. Lee, playing from the hijack, continued with a bet of 12,500 before seeing Rabut check-raise all in for 67,500.

After taking a minute or so to think, Lee made the call, putting Rabut at risk.

Eric Rabut: 77 All in
Min-Sung Lee: 99

There was no saving grace for Rabut on the K turn or 3 river, leaving him to say his goodbyes and exit the tournament area.

Afriat Irritated at Pace of Play

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Alex Gelinski raised to 6,000 and Thomas Eychenne three-bet to 22,500 from the small blind. Diego Vazsorgatto was in the big blind and was thinking about his decision.

"Every hand you have to tank for 20 minutes," piped up Eric Afriat apropos of nothing. Eventually Vazsorgatto called and Gelinski got out the way.

Eychenne check-called 15,000 on the AK4 flop and the turn was the 8. Both players checked and the 8 completed the board. Eychenne then placed enough chips in front of him to put Vazsorgatto all in, who once again thought over his decision.

Vazsorgatto eventually folded, setting off Afriat again.

"Can you play a little faster?" he asked Afriat, even though Vazsorgatto had just been contemplating a call for his tournament life.

"I don't think anyone is taking too long," said tablemate Jose Latorremarina, not doing much to dissuade Afriat's apparent discontent with proceedings.

Arthur Closing in on Seven Figures

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Riva Arthur
Riva Arthur

Riva Arthur came in with a raise from under the gun to 6,000 with Charles Lee calling from the next seat and Harold Evans calling out of the hijack.

Arthur continued with a bet of 11,000 on the QK2 flop. Lee folded, but Evans quickly called.

The 6 appeared on the turn and Arthur bet again, this time for 16,000. Evans immediately called.

When the 6 came on the river, Arthur tossed out a bet of 30,000. Evans looked back at his cards and then made the call for about half of his remaining chips. Arthur turned over K8 for a flush, and Evans had to muck.
